My mother checked herself in to the wave to seek help for her clinical depression and I visited her twice a week and constantly was told that her therapist was no help. She was supposed to have 1 hour visits but they ended up being 20-30 minutes tops and a few times the therapist didn’t even show up. After the 30 days about 2 months after, my mom took her own life.
The staff was nice to her and I but the actual therapy is next to none for being helpful.

Honestly the wave became my second home. I felt I was really heard and seen there for the first time in my life. As mental health facilities go I believe it is A tier. Could there be some better hygiene factors? Sure. But it is LEAGUES above other facilities in the area and I would feel more than comfortable coming for another stay if needed. Thank you Wave!!

I did residential treatment at The Wave and then stepped down to PHP and IOP. My experience in residential was incredible.

I also loved the emotional support dogs some of the therapists had/residents. Some of the outings we went on included a dolphin boat ride and to the aquarium.
The support from the entire staff really helped to create a supportive atmosphere. The techs were simply incredible and always were up to talk about anything— from life problems to your pets! They were always available to us and would drop anything for us if we needed them. The therapists were also always available if you needed a quick check in outside of your scheduled appointment and Raveen would always ensure everyone was alright, even offering her time to us as well. The night nurses were simply incredible too and I have so many fond memories of standing at the nurses station chatting away. They also provide check ins post discharge to ensure you’re still doing okay. Finally, the admissions team works really hard to make your insurance cover the stay and also works hard to create a payment plan for whatever insurance won’t cover, which took off so much stress from me.
The other important aspect of The Wave was the lifelong friendships I created during my stay. Even months after discharge, I still talk to so many of the fellow residents there and we constantly check in and share updates, which is what is really special to me.
Overall, I am so grateful for the time I spent at The Wave. I have never felt so stable in my life and I thank a lot of that to them. They were there when I was drowning and they were there when I was celebrating. The info I learned from the daily groups and the relationships I had with the staff I will not soon forget.
If you’re considering going to The Wave, I simply hope you do it. It was the best decision I ever made in my recovery to heal.

Debbie is one of the most intelligent caring people I’ve ever met. She is just so sincere compared to anyone i’ve ever spoken to. She really saved my bestfriend and I couldn’t be more thankful. I am so glad to have met her. Thank you The Wave of Clearwater, for healing my friend and having such an amazing staff. I will continue to recommend this place to all of my friends.

I began my journey on June 1st, 2023 and it just recently came to an end on September 29th, 2023. I was there for just under four months and it was definitely a journey! My experience from start to finish was incredible.
Once I began my admission process, I was welcomed with open arms by Kristin and Debbie, the ones who work in admissions. They were always available for any questions I had, they helped to talk me through some doubts I was having, they worked out a payment plan for me and they were simply wonderful. The amount of support I felt from them is so different from past experiences at other places. They truly made me feel like I was in good hands and I could feel safe there.
During my treatment, I got to experience a wide range of different groups that were exciting and extremely helpful. Some of the groups included ACT, DBT, CBT, Boundary Setting, Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), Holistic Wellness, Art Therapy, Empty Chair Technique and the list goes on! There wasn’t one group that they offered that I ever felt bored in or thought it was irreverent. Even though some of the groups weren’t my favorite, I still was able to take valuable info out of them and apply it to my life.
My individual therapist was Shelby and she is the most incredible therapist ever! She has an extremely bubbly personality, outgoing and has so much care and dedication with making people feel better. Her office door was always open, she gave honest feedback and some of the greatest life advice. I do not trust easily, but Shelby made it easy to trust her. She has so much to offer and I am forever grateful she was my Primary Therapist.
I would also like to shout out the Lead Therapist, Kathy. Kathy was always available for questions, concerns or just to chat. She always welcomed my random need to vent, was willing to accept feedback and overall, just made people feel wanted. She made it known that we could all trust her and that anything we say is valued. She is an asset to their team!
I think it’s also important to share that all the therapists here are incredible. They are all very different, bringing different backgrounds and experiences, to support the overall goal of an individual. Each and every one of them always had their doors open for anyone that needed to talk, they gave advice and different perspectives when I felt like I needed to hear someone else’s thoughts and they all have great advice and so many different coping strategies! I couldn’t imagine a better, more diverse team than the team they have.
The support staff are amazing as well. The two techs who stand out the most to me are Josie and Bre. They were there for me through all my bad times and celebrated my good times. They were always down to hear my rants about the world or simply there for me to cry. Some of the best advice I got was from these lovely ladies and I appreciate it a ton.
I would also like to say that the night nurse, Lauren, contributed tremendously to the overall care given. She is knowledgeable when it comes to medication questions/concerns, she was always available when someone needed her and she would be company to us when we couldn’t sleep. She is extremely easy to talk to and trust, and I always felt like I was in good hands with her.
The psychiatrist(s) are also extremely kind and knowledgeable! They were willing to meet me where I was, gather my feedback about what I wanted to try and I never felt forced by them. It’s rare to find such genuine psychiatrists these days, but The Wave of Clearwater did a fine job finding them!
If you’re looking for a mental health facility where you feel like you matter and that will give you the support you need, I highly recommend them. I never once felt alone in my journey, there was always someone available when I needed to talk and I took away so much from my time here. I haven’t felt this incredible in so many years. I finally feel like I got my life back and also my peace! None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication this places showed me day in and day out.

So disappointed. I had really thought I might have found a high quality facility to provide the treatment my friend needs. Before it was even scheduled to happen, I got a call Deborah asking how the meeting with their clinician, Kathy, had gone. I told her it wasn't scheduled for a few more days. Before it was even scheduled to happen, I got a call Deborah asking how the meeting with their clinician, Kathy, had gone. I told her it wasn't scheduled for a few more days. She checked the schedule and replied she had made a mistake. I confirmed that we were, indeed on the schedule for the agreed upon date/time. She repeatedly confirmed this. When the appointment time came, NO ONE called. My friend has been in 2 different facilities without any improvement and was very skeptical to even try any further treatment. Now her skepticism has been further reinforced and I am left continuing to try to find the help she needs.

To say I am disappointed in this facility is an understatement. Before I begin, let me introduce myself. My name is Jesse, I am a nineteen year old with severe agoraphobia, emetophobia, OCD, anxiety, and ARFID. I came to this facility for help with my phobias and my agoraphobia-related trauma. Even though I really did not want to go to the WAVE, I went anyways because I thought it would help me get better. I was wrong.

Because of my OCD and ARFID, I am a bit underweight. When I toured this facility, I was told by the administrator, Deborah, to lie about my weight. She told me to wear “heavy boots” and a “heavy jacket” so I would weigh more when I stepped on the scale. I was very against this idea, but I was told that it was fine to do and that I wouldn’t get in trouble. We told the facility that I was 100 pounds.
Near the middle of my first week, I was weighed by the nurse, I was 90 pounds. Even though I was told that it would be okay if I faked my weight, it did not turn out that way. To explain my situation, eating is part of my phobias. I have a lot of trauma surrounding food and feeling sick, especially while being out of the house. Instead of calming me down and trying to help, I was repeatedly threatened with being kicked out and even death. On my third day, my therapist, Lisa, came into my room with her dog and told me I was being discharged. There were no kind words, no checking up on me, she told me very bluntly to begin packing up my belongings because I would be going home that day.
Let me remind you that I am nineteen. I live with my mother, I cannot drive, and I had no way of getting home. They hadn’t even informed my mother this was happening, she had no idea. I had a huge breakdown that consisted of begging to go home, wailing, and lots of sobbing. The kind women who helped me weren’t even therapists, they were the nurses. Mind you, this is only three days into my month long stay.
At the end of my second week, my anxiety became worse, I began to feel terrible again. My anxiety spiked, my phobias heightened, and depression kicked in. I began staying in my room, not showing up to groups, and not eating my dinners. When I didn’t go to group, I usually had a nurse or two check on me once or twice a day. They would tell me to go to group then leave, even if I was crying or visibly distressed.
My third week was when things really began to decline. My phobia got very extreme very quickly, I wasn’t able to regulate my anxiety and I found myself locking myself in my room.
By my last day, I couldn’t wait to go home. I never wanted to come back, I never wanted to step foot outside my house again. For some reason, The WAVE wanted me to stay for another week, even though being there was making me worse than ever. They saw that I was declining physically and mentally, but did not understand that they were the reason for it. I rejected their offer and went straight home.
I had to go back to The WAVE for out-patient stuff. I had a breakdown and had to be dragged into the car, then went hysterical during the drive. It was absolutely horrific and I do not doubt for a second that it was caused by my stay at The WAVE. I was tearing apart my phone case, sobbing, screaming, and begging my mom to not take me there. I was taken to The WAVE anyways and sat on the couch in the lobby as I waited for group. I told four different staff members what had just happened and that I was terrified, they only told me to tell my therapist and left me alone. Eventually, I sat in group and stayed completely silent the entire time. I waited two hours to speak to my therapist, I told her what happened and she only told me to take my medication, even though she knows I cannot. This was my last day at The WAVE, I never went back and I have never been happier. Please, don’t send your loved ones here, don’t even send your worst enemies here. It isn’t worth it.
