My husband has been in acute rehab at VHC for two weeks now. The staff and the nurses and the therapists and the aids are all amazing. They really care about their patients and also their caregivers. We feel like when we are released we will have the skills needed to tackle rehab at home. Thank you very much VHC and keep up the good work.

I accompanied a friend who required a procedure in the cardio pulmonary unit. The entire staff, from the woman who gave me my visitor pass, the woman at the info desk in the lobby, the receptionist at the unit, and the nurses and doctors performing the procedure, all were excellent, sincere, and focused on myself and my friend the patient. Directions were very clear and I moved very easily and quickly from the entrance in the lobby to the unit. I was very impressed.

I had a great OR experience but after discharge discovered an IV left in my arm. Had make an appointment with Kaiser Reston to get it removed that evening instead of home resting. The longer it was in, the greater chance of infection,
They should be more careful in recovery and a little more apologetic when such is reported. You get the feeling your comments fall into a deep hole and no one really cares.

This is a review of the emergency room. I had a good experience 11 years ago with one of my children needing stitches. Twice in the last 3 years we've gone to the emergency room for our child who needed medical care and both times left after hours of waiting, without treatment, and feeling very disrespected. This last time - Saturday night April 6, 2024, the hospital staff, nurse and security did not help my son, was unconscionable to a difficult man, perhaps homeless, in need of treatment...

This last time - Saturday night April 6, 2024, the hospital staff, nurse and security did not help my son, was unconscionable to a difficult man, perhaps homeless, in need of treatment, and told my son to leave if he didn't like the way they treated this homeless man. Perhaps time for these folks to find a new profession.

Received great care at VHC. I was taken by ambulance to Fair Oats Hospital were there biggest concern was getting me out. I was transferred over from Fair Oats hospital via Kiaser. VHC staff was very caring and helpful. Ended up having to stay for multiple days. Great care...best in the area I believe...food is also.

Maternity Ward Review:
Have your baby here ladies! The staff are so nice and careful! I had to ask if the nurses were unionized because they were all so happy and nice. No! They said the hospital just treats them well. Here’s what I loved:
- Nice sized rooms for triage, prenatal, and postpartum.
- Pull out bed for partners. No more dad chairs!
- Great food. If you decide to order food from their dine line, it’s great. If you send your partner downstairs to get food… it’s great. They made me a...

- Great food. If you decide to order food from their dine line, it’s great. If you send your partner downstairs to get food… it’s great. They made me an omelette; A FRESH OMELETTE.
- Has a nursery. As a c-section mom, movement was really hard; so having the option to have my baby be in the nursery to allow me to recover, shower, and nap was a game changer. I was almost embarrassed for asking, until I saw everyone sent their child for the same reasons.
- They don’t wake you up every other hour! When the nurse was scheduling medication time, she made sure the doctor and tech were in formation to make sure we all could rest for at least two hours at a time.
- They give you the Washington Post from the day your child is born. So sweet!
- They will do all the work for you to get your baby’s social security and birth certificate. Just make sure you bring your checkbook so you can get the whole process done ($12).
- It’s clean!
- Staff are genuinely nice. I cannot explain this enough.
If you have Kaiser, pick this hospital.

We had an outstanding experience with Dr. Rhee and his entire staff with my dad's recent open heart surgery. We are a large family with medical experience and knowledge, thus we were very nervous about this major surgery. However, Dr. Rhee and his staff made this entire process seamless from beginning to end. The secretary, Alena, coordinated all paperwork, documentation, and insurance needs and was extremely proactive. The administrative process can be daunting, but she relieved us of this burden and assisted our every need. She also put our minds at ease as she greeted us with a huge smile, positive outlook, and outstanding work ethic. His medical staff, including nurse practitioners and physician's assistants were extremely competent and thorough. At our consultation and pre-op appointment, they were thorough in assessing my dad's medical background and thoroughly educating our entire family, including my dad. the communication was outstanding with both Dr. Rhee and his staff. Not only did we feel completely confident about Dr. Rhee's competency and experience, but he went out of his way to be attentive to my dad, calm and compassionate. He visited him post-op every single day and was extremely thorough in addressing his every medical need. He spoke to our large family with so much compassion and spent so much time assuring that our every need and concern was met. We could not be more grateful for Dr. Rhee and his staff or recommend them enough. Last but not least, VHC was outstanding and we felt his care was well coordinated throughout his entire stay - every single RN went out of their way to provide excellent care, as well as the support team, such as occupational therapy, dietary, and respiratory therapy. Everyone made my dad feel as if he was the only patient and they were entirely dedicated to his well being and positive outcome. We could not thank them enough!

For context: I have been hospitalized myself a number of times over the past 15 years, in 2 other hospitals far from here. Here I am a brother-in-law helping the patient's wife.
The room here in intermediate care is smaller than I'm used to, the room, and facility in general, seems to have deferred maintenance issues; for example, the lights in the room other than the bright ceiling light directly over the patient have not worked for days.

Staff seems generally capable with good bedside manners, although admin seems unreliable, with the Patient Advocate promising, then failing to follow up at all with requested information. Information regarding timing of expected events, services and procedures seemed even more vague and unreliable than in my experience elsewhere.
In my experienced opinion, a reasonably functional but not well organized hospital.
