Shocked to see some of these terrible reviews. My daughter is on her second stay and I can very confidently say that they saved her life . The staff is compassionate and caring . The facility is beautiful and strives to feel "homey" vs " hospital". No-one wants to need a place like this but when it is needed, this is the staff / facility to seek out

okay, ignoring all of the problems with the bad staff, which is horrible in itself. this place was extremely hot to the point where me and my roommate requested ice packs before we slept. if you want us to gain weight why is the building at such a high temperature, don’t you people know that heat makes your metabolism faster?? also the showers were scolding hot and when you tried to turn it colder it would just get hotter!! completely ridiculous that i had to live under these conditions while...

i am worse off than before i went in, not physically of course but mentally and emotionally. they give you medicine that makes you gain weight and makes you really hungry. this recent september it was 85 degrees inside the common room, many patients including me had heat rashes on our whole body. be prepared for you and your family to be lied to and manipulated. php is even worse. the BHS called patients brats and when they were upset she said they were having a tantrum. unless you have a goo...

TA’s went through my journal unprovoked. the schedule is so strict. there is no alone time. you only get 30 minutes a day to talk to anyone on the outside. and don’t get me started on the school teacher

My name is Sophie and I was a patient at Veritas Collaborative in Durham, NC from May 2023 - September 2023. While I admitted myself into this treatment center willingly and with the intention of beating my eating disorder, I was unaware of the malpractice and invalidation I was about to receive.
From my pediatric nurse practitioner, Laura E. Craven, I was treated with disrespect and callousness. To preface, I understand her job was to keep me medically stable, but the way in which she went about it was cruel. Craven would not take my input into account and was very disrespectful, calling me a liar and a manipulator many times. As a minor (I was 17 at the time) I virtually had no rights when it came to the point of Nasogastric tubing. The process of receiving an NG tube placement is a painful and uncomfortable one. For me, it was extremely anxiety provoking and unnerving (I fainted my first time). Craven was refusing to have me placed on a permanent NG tube, instead opting for the “in-and-out” option. This option consists of inserting the NG tube, having the feed run for 2-4 hours, then the same day removing the NG tube. It got to the point where Craven was threatening me with “in-and-out” NG tube placement every day if I didn’t eat a certain amount of food per day. Craven was willing to have me undergo the pain of an “in-and-out” NG tube every single day. When I presented resistance to this approach, she told me that if I did not comply, I would be sent to the hospital where an NG tube would be forcibly placed on me. Craven used my anxiety and fear to her advantage. That, I am blatantly calling malpractice.
Veritas is not a place that helps people recover from eating disorders. This place left me with severe medical trauma and trust issues that I have to cope with every day. I have flashbacks and nightmares every day from Veritas. Do not send your child here if you want them to recover. There are so many better options.

I went here twice and it saved my life. Keep in mind these reviews are written by people who went here against their will. You get what you give at veritas. If you put in the effort you will have long lasting recovery. Some of the ta's weren't my favorite but a majority of the staff were amazing. I have celiac disease and eat gluten free and my dietician was amazing with providing gluten free options but culinary..they poisoned me a couple of times. as far as treatment goes i personally wouldn't recommend veritas, it doesn't really help that much with recovery. it more so forces you to recover. i'm glad i left because it wasn't a safe environment. however, i will not lie and say my experience was the worst because i met quite a few patients who had it way worse than me. they didn't get good treatment teams. they would bribe them to complete. they wouldn't let them eat food they liked. for me, i made some really deep friendships there and...

this is not me saying that ed treatment in general is bad. there are so so so many helpful and life saving places out there. veritas is not one of them!! please send your child somewhere else and save them the trama! the people taking care of us were college students with no experience at all. they did not care about our well being or our recovery. they constantly said the most triggering things and literally bullied some patients. i named my eating disorder after a worker there named C BEAMA...

BUT TO MY THERAPIST JOYCE, ily and u were my fav person there<3

I just got out of veritas and it sucked. There were nice people there who cared, but mostly there were people there who just wanted to get their money and leave. I got told by Amanda that we were just another group of patients and if we weren’t here they would just get different patients, that made me feel so lonely like no one cared about us as individuals. They cared more about my cursing than anything else. They would rarely listen to you and would just say “that’s your eating disorder tal...

I got told by Amanda that we were just another group of patients and if we weren’t here they would just get different patients, that made me feel so lonely like no one cared about us as individuals. They cared more about my cursing than anything else. They would rarely listen to you and would just say “that’s your eating disorder talking” when you would get upset about almost anything. One person on my team Brian would always make me feel invalidated, he once called me a liar and said he couldn’t always believe what I say. I did not feel heard. They took away all my rights and happiness I had left. There were some nice people there like my therapist and dietitian but not all are nice nor do all listen to you and your needs. I went in for an eating disorder but all they really care about is you gaining weight and following every single rule they place upon you. My experience here was not the best. This place did open my eyes on how I’m not the only one struggling and I deserve to be heard, that was not by the workers but by the other patients there. The food is absolutely terrible, they want you to eat so bad but then make the worst food known to man kind. The staff there they don’t listen to you. We had a triggering girl in our group and they did nothing about it after everyone told them many times about her. This place does not help and everyone I was in there with would agree that they just don’t give af about us. As I said before there were few people who worked there who did care and I’m glad about them but most of them don’t care. They just want to get their money and go home. Chris the education dude sucked he would get on to you about everything like having your leg up. Veritas seems like it could be a good place, if the people actually cared which they don’t.
