Been my primary care for over 15 years. I have always been treated kindly and felt respected. I would recommend that any veteran eligible take advantage of this benefit.

After a medical discharge out of the Marine corps I had been going to the VA since that day October of 1977 and I've had maybe one complaint but other than that you can't ask for better. I have no beef with the VA, understand, that's my opinion. The VA drug treatment it was the only thing that got me straight. I owe them my life. Save what you may, think what you may. The Suboxone program got me clean

For the most part I’ve had an excellent overall experience with the West Haven VA. My only complaint is it’s practically IMPOSSIBLE to get Travel or any Specialty clinic on the phone or to return a phone call. I will highly praise the Patient Advocate’s office for their help!

Parking is miserable and far. There is a shuttle service but I'm not sure how to use it, yet. There's several help desks which is a good thing because it's not always clear where you are supposed to go for your appointment and some areas seem to rotate specialists, making it harder to know. Staff is friendly, although sometimes you can hear the reception desk complaining about clients when they walk away.

I do not usually go to the West Haven VA so my experience is only with specialty health care, but I have only had good experiences at this facility and the staff has always been very nice. It is somewhat of a big facility and navigating can be a little difficult so getting specific directions on where to go before showing up is extremely helpful.

Make multiple calls to the operator to be transferred to the clinics I need. Leave multiple messages with who ever they tranfered me to and rarely get back to me in a timely matter. Then get penalty for not making my appointment. Gave exact name of my provider and get the runaround for multiple areas then loose service .

The va as a whole is a great place. I get my care here and the nurses, Drs and overall staff are polite and kind. With that said, I'm giving this place 1 stars(negative stars if I could) for the police. Most of them are the biggest douches with the biggest egos I have ever seen. They walk around like they are better than you and if you find them in the hallway huddled as a group they won't move an inch if you try to get past them in the hallway. They are the most disrespectful "cops"(they are...
