Unfortunately I had to stay there recently. Unfortunately because it was involuntary. The facility was clean. The food was good. the staff was kind minus one nurse Rebecca. Joann was comforting and welcoming and got us into a good routine. I did not want be there but Joann tried to ease my mind. Dalton helped me by giving some good laughs. They have the proper medical staff and protocols to treat those in need of mental health care or other needs. They seem to actually care about the patients...

The wait time is usually 5 hours so come really early but if you come at like 5-6 you have to stay in there for like a whole day like me. They yell at you and have attitude for everything and I’m being seriously honest. The food is good but sometimes it’s really nasty! I don’t know why but the techs are always in a bad mood. Maybe they don’t wanna work there but pls have some patience with the kids. There here to get help not feel uncomfortable by the staffs rude behaviors! I recommend not going to this place! But most of the nurses and the therapists are nice just not the techs and other people!

I had to bring my daughter here, we got there at 4pm & didn’t get her in a room until almost 1am. They said they had a new system and that’s what took so long hopefully they get a grip on it because I was ready to walk out like 3 times. But they provided us snacks and drinks and kept apologizing for the wait and explaining it’s a new system. Mr Orlando is the man dealing with my daughter’s admission. He was very communicative with me. He would update me on what’s going on as he got updated. V...

I couldn't begin to tell you just how much I appreciate the staff at University Behavioral Health (UBH).
We just had an issue where my son had to go in-patient for 5 days and it was amazing to see how much they actually cared for him.
I don't say this lightly either. It's been my experience that in a lot of cases there are people who work in Mental Health who really shouldn't be there because they don't care about the patients and it is truly just a paycheck to them.

I don't say this lightly either. It's been my experience that in a lot of cases there are people who work in Mental Health who really shouldn't be there because they don't care about the patients and it is truly just a paycheck to them.
It is the direct opposite here at UBH. The staff was competent, they were professional, and most of all they truly cared about my son getting better.
Special Shout Out to Nurse Amanda, Nurse Petra, Nurse Carmen, and Nurse Javier.
They made his stay at the Bridges Unit as comfortable and impactful as possible.
We truly thank them for their professionalism and kindness.

I went here for 4 days as a baker act from my school, and I have mixed feelings about it. Starting with the bad, not so good: When I got there, of course my belongings were taken and it took a LONG time to finally get into the lobby. I had no track of time but I believe I got there around 12:50, maybe 1. It was night time by the time I finally got a room, and I had to use the bathroom but couldn’t until I was given a cup to do so in. Which meant I had to hold my bladder for probably 3-6 hours...

Which meant I had to hold my bladder for probably 3-6 hours. didn’t get a hygiene bag til the last day I was there, which wasn’t too important to me but I feel it should’ve been more prioritized. My parents got more of the bad reviews and said staff were very uncommunicative, some would lie or be rude to them. For me, staff was decent. A lot of them were funny and understanding, especially Mr.Dolton who was there from the start of me getting there and made me feel very comfortable. One staff member cursed at us and would yell, and the other told me my scars weren’t bad. Other than that, all staff was nice. The showers would spray a ton so the bathrooms got soaked. Onto the good, we got outside time and were able to go to the activity room, draw, go outside, basketball court, zen garden, and we had our daily groups. They gave us an option of bloodwork where I refused, and was glad they didn’t force anything. The food was absolutely amazing, well cooked and filling. No complains whatsoever about the cafeteria. We got to watch TV, do karaoke and listen to music. We also got to hang out with the little kids so that was very fun. The blankets didn’t do much to keep me warm, and it was cold every night; but that wouldn’t be a bad review as they had a ton of holes for safety reasons. We had 2 pillows, and I slept well and didn’t get woken up too much besides some of the 15 minute checks and of course talking with CPS and others at 2 AM. I got a therapist, probably the best therapy I’ve ever had so no complains there. I also got someone to tell me about medication, and what they believe I had so that was also good. Sometimes the staff were loud at night talking, but that was just for entertainment as they had to be there all night. Overall, my stay was good and I wish I could’ve stayed longer but that wasn’t possible (my parents). I’d rate this place a 4/5, or a 8.5/10. If your looking for a place to prioritize your health and stay safe, this would be my recommendation. Thank you to UBC’s staff, Mr. Dolton, Ms.B and everyone else who supported me during my stay.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The therapist was the only person here that was professional. Morning staff doesn’t speak to night staff and no one ever seamed to know what was going on. My son was taken here and I was the only parental legal guardian with full custody. I explained this to several people in this organization on sever different occasions. My name was the only name on any of the paperwork and I was to be the only one he was allowed to be discharged to. His therapist...

My son was taken here and I was the only parental legal guardian with full custody. I explained this to several people in this organization on sever different occasions. My name was the only name on any of the paperwork and I was to be the only one he was allowed to be discharged to. His therapist and a supervisor called me the day of and explained my son’s dad was trying to pick him up and I told them ABSOLUTELY not and they assured me he would not have access to him. I was scheduled to pick up my son at 9pm I called at 5pm to make sure the night staff and everyone was on the same page and they again assured me I’m the only one they would release him to. I arrived at 9pm and sat outside in the cold while they were supposedly gathering my son and his things to bring him down and I was met by someone 20min later to be told he was released to his father. They didn’t even ask for id they just released a minor patient to a killer for all they know. I asked to speak to supervisor and the supervisor told me he had no control over who he was released to and gave me no further answers. They also never returned my sons jewelry and shoe laces or belt told him they didn’t have them. This facility is unprofessional and irresponsible. No one has ever reached out to me to explain further the supervisor that came out went back in and never returned.

I had no complaints with my stay. I was baker acted by my doctor and at first I was terrified because I know places like these can add more trauma for people who just need help. I can’t talk much about the other units but I can go on and on about the Tranquility unity. The nurses were so kind and caring especially Joanne the day nurse. she made everything fun and I could tell she cared a lot. we had a set schedule to try and help us be more active from waking up at 6am to lights out at 10:30,...

I can’t talk much about the other units but I can go on and on about the Tranquility unity. The nurses were so kind and caring especially Joanne the day nurse. she made everything fun and I could tell she cared a lot. we had a set schedule to try and help us be more active from waking up at 6am to lights out at 10:30, we were provided breakfast lunch and dinner and also time out in the courtyard. I think the experience is dependent on the unit you get and the people you meet. I made a few friends and we shared our story’s and background and that helped a lot, hearing others and how they felt with situations.I couldn’t take my meds the first night so I woke up with a panic attack but the nurses were right in the hall to help in any way they could. Yes you have to keep the doors open and yes there is a limited privacy barrier however it is for the patient safety so I didn’t mind and I completely understand. Iv been reading a lot of other comments mostly about parents getting upset about how they can’t talk to their child and I completely i stand and get how it can be scary to send your child in for help and then not be able to contact them HOWEVER i also understand that UBC is trying their best to get these people under strict condition and as away from their outside problems as much as possible so they can heal from any outside trauma and stress. What if someone who has been causing you pain from the outside had a way to do the same when you are in a hospital trying to heal from that, I got to call my parents and partner when i pleased as long as I asked to use the landline at the desk, has absolutely no problem communicating with the people I wanted too. This facility is one of the good ones atleast the tranquility unit is.
