tammy the tech is amazing. love her. some of the counselors (ex- meredith) were somewhat rude. i think if you come into a recovery setting, the counselors should not call you out in front of a group (for example, showering or hygiene). my counselor, meredith, offered absolutely no mercy when i was put on 3 antidepressants and was adjusting to my meds. she put me on 10 foot rule with majority of the facility because i slept through our group sessions BECAUSE i was adjusting to the medication i was prescribed, per the psychiatrist doctor that you see through zoom- he was nice, however, i think that a psychiatrist should see patients in person before they prescribe anything- i was prescribed 300mg of wellbutrin at 12 oaks, which made me have seizures, because they don’t take vitals every week, as they said they would. don’t be fooled. the nursing staff, except madison and adaire, doesn’t care. angel and caleb are amazing counselors and i wish they got more credit for the role that they play at 12 oaks. i opened up to angel about how i felt targeted by majority of the techs, and she agreed. angel will advocate for you to other staff members, as she did for me. i honestly believe that angel is the best counselor that has ever been at 12 oaks. she has been in a patient position and understands how it is to be the patient. i will give 12 oaks credit where credit is due, and i have been sober since my time at 12 oaks. i am thankful for chef bill, angel, caleb, and those that helped me progress on my sobriety journey. i have made friends here that will forever be my support system. i am more thankful for the other patients for sharing their stories than anything. THAT is what made me decide to be sober. the sweat lodge that they bring you to is absolutely AMAZING. chief standing bear will cleanse you through four phases of prayer inside of the sweat lodge, and i think they may be one of my best experiences through 12 oaks. however, there is a lot of rehab romance at 12 oaks. there were people screwing in detox, which is RIGHT NEXT to the detox nurses station. i personally say that if you aren’t prepared to get sober, don’t go here. i have lost a few friends since leaving 12 oaks. this place IS for you if you’re struggling between the idea of being sober and staying active in addiction. if you’re still set on staying in addiction, i would not go here. i hope that everyone reading this review is able to get themselves to sobriety. it is worth it. you are worth it. i promise your family, friends and anyone else in between, believes you are worth it. please choose to stay and get help, even if it’s not from 12 oaks.

This is one of the best centers that I have ever walked into. Mostly all of the staff’s are very friendly, attentive, caring, and would even go the extra mile to help. The scenery is very relaxing with a beach and a great pier. I will be celebrating my 20 weeks sober and I feel indebted to this center for turning my life around, and change my path. Thank you.

EVERY SINGLE NURSE DESERVES RECOGNITION FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO EACH PATIENT. Everyone working in detox really helps you and is on your level. Even if they weren’t able or allowed to offer you something, they explained why.
I cant thank Cassie enough for her dedication to her job. JULES thank you for your kindness and understanding—you’ve changed my life. There were many, many others in detox/medical that helped I just can’t remember their names.

The counselors, Meredith, Shab, and Dan, played a crucial role in making me feel understood and supported during my time here. Despite the challenges of the venue, they remained dedicated to their patients, refusing to give up even when things got tough. I truly wish I had them in my support network back home it would greatly enhance my ability to manage my symptoms and approach life more effectively. I got the skills I need to tackle life’s moderate problems.
In addition, I can't speak highly enough about Heather, the CEO. She's my true hero. Despite the pressure she must face of leading the facility—she treats everyone with the same level of respect and care, whether they're a tech, a patient, or a counselor. Her genuine desire to make a difference for both patients and staff members alike is evident in her actions. Heather went above and beyond to ensure my safety and alleviate my paranoia and anxiety amidst the venue's chaos. When I was having an anxiety attack she let me call my family.
As someone who struggles with relaxing and adjustment, I found the environment overwhelming. However, the counselors and Heather provided invaluable support and resources that have undoubtedly changed lives. While I recognize there's still a long road ahead for me, I've learned a great deal about myself and how my actions impact others—during my time here.

I am a family member of a patient at 12 Oaks Recovery Center. This is the worst experience I have EVER been through. There have been issues since the beginning with the intake team, the finance team and most recently with the counselor that we were assigned to. The counselor claims that she is not biased and working for both parties but this is absolutely false. Every single interaction with the entire staff has been unpleasant. There have been issues since the beginning with the intake team, the finance team and most recently with the counselor that we were assigned to. The counselor claims that she is not biased and working for both parties but this is absolutely false. Every single interaction with the entire staff has been unpleasant. I would NEVER, ever recommend this program to anyone. The amount of grievances I have towards this program is too long to even begin sharing. Their motto should be "treat them and street them" - because they do NOT care about the well-being of their patients. I was told if I don't help financially in my family member's transition out of 12 Oaks I would be, "Setting him up to fail." That is pure manipulation, guilt, gaslighting and shaming me for the boundaries I have set for myself. That is just one glimpse into a small portion of a horrible conversation that was had with the counselor. I've kept all matters private and tried to handle them with grace and understanding but at this point, I've been left with nothing other than the opportunity to air this on a platform in hopes that someone else considering this facility might want to reconsider after they've read this review. Money is the only thing 12 Oaks Recovery cares about and gaslighting the family member's when they explain their choices and set their boundaries.

Gavin and Andreas are the best techs here. Twila, Tammy & DJ are all sweethearts. You will learn more from the patients and their stories than you will from the counselors or groups. You only receive about two one-on-ones while you're there. Food is 6/10. Very laid back and relaxed, beach days are the best. Medline sucks you wait an hour sometimes 2 to take meds. I don't regret going or the people I met there. Its great for what it is. Also be careful with how many MGs in meds they give you. ...

It's a great program right on the water. I'm very antisocial but that didn't exist with my stay here.

I have worked a little over ten years at Twelve Oaks Recovery Center, I have enjoyed it immensely, from the time I started especially when doing a lot of transports, to and from the airports, bus stations, even to the actual locations of client's whom I was transporting whether to admit, or when discharging from the facility to a new chapter in that client's life. I started at entry level tech, and gradually moved into a Lead tech position, to ultimately where I am today as the Manager of Client care. Twelve Oaks has treated me well, I could not have asked for a better employer. I could not say it hasn't been a bit of a challenge sometimes, but it is meeting and overcoming those challenges that have made working here a better place for myself, and hopefully all my co-workers and the clientele. I am anticipating that as we go that this will only get better each day, and each year. I hope to be a part of this journey we are on for a long time to come.

This program is a start to a new beginning. Some welcome a new vision on life, some stay content. At the end of the day, it’s a higher power/motivation that leads to your vision. This program shuttles to church services, outside AA/NA programs & I have witnessed many life changing Baptisms. Addiction is difficult to manage. I’ll be forever grateful for the vision regained @12 Oaks.

I was a patient here in March 2023 for voluntary detox. I wanted to safely stop my anti-anxiety meds. I was advised an in treatment facility would be best for me. I did a lot of online research about the facility. Also, a former co-worker mentioned her ex-husband went there. She said it was good. He was being over dramatic about his stay, or was he?

I was a patient here in March 2023 for voluntary detox. I wanted to safely stop my anti-anxiety meds. I was advised an in treatment facility would be best for me. I did a lot of online research about the facility. Also, a former co-worker mentioned her ex-husband went there. She said it was good. He was being over dramatic about his stay, or was he?
Before I opted to go, I called the facility to get some information about what my stay would "look like," based on my medical reason. I spoke with 2 in take specialists. I shared with them I had special dietary requirements - due to a medical condition at the time. Due to this, I asked extensive questions about food options. I was advised my dietary options could be met, whether I opted to bring my own food or not. This made me feel more at peace. I live locally so I drove over. When I got there, the facility was NOT in alignment to the online photos; additionally, I wasn't given the dietary needs I was told. I had a ROUGH time here. I lost extensive weight. I couldn't eat most of the food cooked. My only options were the same - canned tuna, veggie burger, baked chips, fruit, and a couple of other items. In the event I had to stay longer, how could I be expected to eat that at least 2x a day because breakfast is different. The food I did bring was confiscated which did a disservice to me. They do allow grocery visits but that's minimal.
Moreover, the facility isn't cleaned sufficiently. The janitorial staff is very kind; however, during my time in detox, the shower wasn't cleaned ONCE! If you do go, buy shower shoes. The floors in the detox facility were mopped every day but that was it. I know this because I always was in my room when they came. I found that to be the quietest time in my room to rest and/or be alone. Another unsettling factor about the bathrooms, there are NO vents to take out the humidity. There's clear signs of rust/moisture. I can't include pictures because you aren't allowed to have your phone. Florida humidity is intense. Mold can be a serious issue when the proper precautions aren't taken, especially when you have people who have autoimmune issues staying here. I was one. There was noticeable mold in the bathrooms in the cabins. It was causing serious health issues for some of the patients. Add on the undercooked food that would cause patients to get sick. It's NOT a place I'd recommend anyone send their loved ones to.
I understand not all patients are like me, in that, they are going there for simple detox; yet, they are human beings with souls who deserve the right to proper care - which includes a healthy environment. I AMA myself out within a week after speaking with the Director Joe to no avail. I was being given so many different drugs I was in a constant brain fog. When I finally questioned the nursing staff about my medications, their kind attitude toward me changed. I was no longer seen as a kind, cooperative, and friendly patient. Becoming cognizant is good for you but not for them. Once I stopped them, I was told by fellow patients I looked happy and my eyes looked alive again. That solidified I needed to leave. I do find it funny they demand their money up front - Noted; yet, it took over a month of consistent phone calls to have them refund me accordingly.
I share this because I meant so many kind souls that were brought in from out of state and "left" there. As a patient, your access to the phone is limited. When patients do get access, it may not be at the best time for them to convey what is going on. I know no place is perfect; however, bed side manner; clean and safe environment, and overall kindness is missing here. The handful of kind staff I did meet were not nurses and/or only worked during the day. It was not a nice a recovery; yet, I'm grateful I went. I feel I needed to share my story, in the event anyone is on the fence about going can have a first hand account. I do hope that things have improved since then for the improvement of patients recovery.
