I voluntary entered this hospital because i had admitted i needed help with my eating disorder. I arrived and the intake staff were nice, as soon as my parents left and i was taken back to the unit the staff was cold and had no empathy. i was wearing a paper hospital gown for hours without my clothing, and was also forced to sit in a room full of people i did not know while having only the paper hospital gown on. i did not get my belongings until about 4 DAYS after i arrived. I, as well as others on the unit, were scolded for crying at times. Staff was also horrible. i came in to the facility with a burn on my leg and asked them to treat it 3 times before it was even looked at. i suffer from anorexia and the amount of food they they want you to eat there is insane. i am 4’8 and a tiny person to begin with regardless of my disorder, and i was given full grown man sized meals. when you have anorexia it is hard to eat anything let alone that much. it is very disheartening when your told this is going to help you and nothing being done is structured to help. the “groups” that were done were not helpful whatsoever. if anything it left me in a worse mood than before. i couldn’t deal with being separated from my family anymore so i signed a 72 (which means i get released in 72 hours) and as soon as i did that the staff gave me attitude and seemed displeased with me. i had blood drawn multiple times and the nurse who drew my blood cut my arm with the needle and stuck me way more than needed. i barely slept due to monitors opening and slamming the doors every 15-30 minutes at night(and no i am not being dramatic they quite litterally slammed the doors shut).the beds were uncomfortable and we got a singular pillow that barely had anything to it. this place felt like a jail in all honesty. in the ED unit you were locked out of your rooms all day except for designated bathroom times and it didn’t matter how bad you had to use the bathroom you had to wait for the next designated time. there were times i was holding it in for hours and it was dehumanizing. the doctor i talked to did not make me feel comfortable or safe, he one worded me consistently through my stay. when i told him i was planning on signing the 72 he told me that i would not be able to pull off beating my eating disorder outpatient and made my anxiety much worse. i can say with confidence that this place does not care about you as an individual they care about the money they are receiving from your stay. being in this facility worsened my mental state and when i got home i slept in bed with my mother for weeks because i was scared to sleep alone. i am now succeeding at recovery regardless of the doctor belittling me and telling me i would never be able to do this. if you or someone you love is considering going here i ask you to please look at all of the reviews and save you or your loved one from the stress that comes from being in this facility.

Tower behavioral health is one of the better mental facilities that I have been to. But it’s still truly awful and I will not be returning.
Staff openly talk about other patients negatively and mention things that most likely violate any HIPPA laws patients have.

Rules for specific units and overall hospital rules weren’t in the folder they give all patients. The schedule that they have and the activities that we can sign up for did not happen at all. The food made multiple people sick and some even got food poisoning multiple times from eating said food. The place gets dirty really fast and it takes a long time for the messes to be cleaned up.
The few workers that are kind go above and beyond for the patients, but other than that they are severely understaffed and money hungry and have no regard for patients well being.
I told them days before my discharge that I felt suicidal and not happy.
And they discharged me and told me to come back if I needed it. That is so awful and made me feel like I wasn’t heard or listened to while I was there. Staff also just doesn’t listen and misinterpret things all of the time.
The only thing that made my stay good was the patients. We all got to talk about our personal issues with each other since individual therapy isn’t allowed there unless you say for at least 30 days.
There is so much wrong with the format and structure of this place
If you want to be treated like a 6 year old. You’ve come to the best place

If your goal is to send a loved one here and forget about them for a while, this facility seems like it might be for you.
If your goal is to provide any sort of support and advocacy for you loved one, and to know that you won't be left on your own to help them when they're discharged, consider elsewhere.

For better or worse, we've had the experience of having a loved one in inpatient care about a dozen times, at about 5-6 facilities.
In its favor, our family member says they are more comfortable here than at previous facilities - better food, friendlier staff. That much is nice to hear.
Continuity of care and involvement of family (even at the patient's request) seems nearly absent, though.
We've been in touch with our family member's follow-up care facility, trying to ensure that they'll be able to resume their care upon discharge. This facility tells us that they have left messages with the patient's social worker at Tower, but have not heard back.
We've been unable to contact anyone at Tower who could indicate whether after-care is being coordinated for after the patient's discharge, which we've heard will be in less than a week.
Our family member has asked their doctor at Tower to contact us (initially about 6-7 days ago), but we have not heard from anyone. When they asked the doctor whether they'd be contacting us, they say the doctor's response was something to the effect of "I'm not sure," or "I haven't decided," apparently without explanation.
When we visited today, we were told that nobody on staff during visiting hours could help with our questions about this.
The communication with family and with next-step care, even when requested by the patient, seems to have been completely lacking so far.
There's time yet for the story to change, so we may be back with an update, but as the family member of someone who needs frequent care (and is dependent on us to provide it), it can sometimes seem like stints in inpatient care are wasted opportunities to put steps in place that will change a cycle for the better. That hasn't ever seemed more the case than it does with Tower.
--Update, 2 days later. Still no communications from the facility. When we talked to our family member yesterday, they asked us to help with something and call them in the morning, but it's impossible to contact them because whenever we're transferred to their unit, there has been no answer even after 1-2 minutes of ringing, and no ability to leave a message.
It's also telling that a more positive review left after this one has already received a thank-you response, while the most recent critical review to receive a (typical generic deflective) response appears to be 2 weeks old.

If the staff's lack of regard for your safety doesn't kill you, the boredom sure will. They keep you when it's not only no longer beneficial to you, but when it becomes detrimental to your health just so they can squeeze out as much profit as they can from you and your insurance company. I will never reach out again during a mental health crisis. I honestly rather take the risk of harming myself than having to come back here.

Honestly quite terrified to write this review because I'm not sure if they can forcefully take me back for posting this.... its been a few years since then, but people need to know.

I thought the other places I had been to were bad, but they had nothing on this place. Soon as I was admitted to the place they boosted my medications to very high levels despite continuous reports by myself and my family that I am extremely sensitive to medications side effects and changes, and those changes often have dangerous effects on me.
I was not allowed to bring enough clothing. I believe the limit was two or three pairs. You weren't allowed to be inside your room at all during the day until the staff directed everyone to go to bed at night.
On the weekends, we stayed in one room and did nothing but sit in plastic chairs and watch the same movies all day. There was maybe one or two 30 minute periods in which a "therapist" would ask meaningless questions or give us papers with pop songs on them to sing like a kindergarten music class.
On weekdays, we were forced to sit in freezing cold, barren "classrooms" and do 1st grade level "math puzzles" worksheets, just so they could say we were given education while we were missing school.
The whole time I was there, the staff was ignorant and at times abusive. My assigned psychiatrist pretended to listen in the 3 minute time slots I was allotted to see him, afterwards he would just raise my meds. Never in my stay, which was multiple weeks, did I see the therapist.
As a bonus, the nurse managed to blow out my vein and cause me a lot of pain every time they did blood work.
Now, the process of leaving AMA. Never have I seen such horrific imprisonment of the mentally ill.
Multiple patients told me of how they had been trapped here for months and sometimes years. They get you with a signed document. If you want to leave AMA, you must get the approval of the hospital. They dont agree, they take you to court, where theyre guaranteed to win favor. When they win, you are forced to stay 25 more days. They can repeat this process as many times as they like. Nothing short of imprisonment.
I got out by refusing to sign anything and by my mother demanding my freedom over the phone. During my exit process, i was harassed and berated by the nurses. A "psychiatrist" emotionally manipulated me to try and get me to stay. He said i must think of him as a bad person and a terrible doctor if i was leaving. Said i hurt his feelings.
I still have ptsd nightmares about this place.
Never send anyone here if you truly care about their health.

Throughout my experience there were so many times kids had jumped the nurses station onto the other unit along with staff leaving kids unsupervised using the excuse I was talking. This is a mental health facilities not rec time you can speak to your coworkers after you have left the facilities your full attention should be in the patients. They attempted to put me on lithium at the age of 15 along with many other kids on the unit. I was jumped in the med line because they had been refusing to give me my nausea meds even though I am prescribed them causing a patient behind me to get mad and grabbing ahold of me than other patients joined in with no involvement in the altercation. Kids were sedated and strapped into chairs on multiple occasions and they favorite children along with not attempting to help with the sexual harrasment going on between patients along with patients entering relationships while in hospital. The only time they did something was when one patient kissed another patient and that only happened for a day before they had been switched back to our unit. Do not send your kids here you'll thank me later.

I got placed there because it was the only one nearby from Hershey. Seemed alright at first but really nothing to say good about this place. Only sat down once to go over my problems out of 7 days. When I was discharged. They couldn't find my medical Marijuana that I just picked up like 2 days prior. Call to see if they found it and they said they got rid of it because it was contraband. When I was discharged. They couldn't find my medical Marijuana that I just picked up like 2 days prior. Call to see if they found it and they said they got rid of it because it was contraband. I explained that medical Marijuana is not contraband that it serves a purpose for my medical situation. I showed them my medical card when they were putting this in with my other items. Than I got a letter in the mail saying that I never had this on my possession. There are thieves in their that will steal from people struggling to make a living. Cannot make it any clearer than that. They owe me 75.00 for this nonsense. My name is James Adams from Elizabethtown Pa. Let's resolve this issue and I'll take this down. You know good SOB'S 👍!!! Grow the Hell up!!! Very immature on your behalf 🙄

the outpatient facility is a joke. been going here practically my whole life and i never had a consistent psychiatrist because this place can't seem to keep a psychiatrist for more than 2 years at a time. all the bad ones stay because they obviously don't care enough to leave and it's a paycheck for them at the end of the day
