I was here participating in a PHP/Outpatient program for several weeks. The experience was incredibly helpful during my crisis, and I felt both safe and comfortable during the sessions. All of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Catriona was an amazing therapist and kept the group sessions both beneficial and enjoyable! Thank you!

2 years ago I called this place on my lunch break at work to inquire about treatment. I mentioned I self harmed the night before and was still experiencing urges. They immediately sent the police to my work. A potential patient experiencing non-suicidal self harm ideation is not a valid reason to contact law enforcement. I wasn’t able to face going back to that job again after that. I hope this facility improves their protocol so that their employees do not overreact and cause someone the tra...

I have been to the Ridge inpatient twice. I have read a lot of the reviews and I am amazed at how many people rate the place as bad. First off it is a stabilization facility. Meant to be a place to get you out of crisis and then onto outside help. They are right it's like a jail...reason everything is on lock down for our safety. Also to be able to keep track of the patients. Both times I was there we were allowed galley time most all the time not according to schedule. Cafeteria ...

Meant to be a place to get you out of crisis and then onto outside help. They are right it's like a jail...reason everything is on lock down for our safety. Also to be able to keep track of the patients. Both times I was there we were allowed galley time most all the time not according to schedule. Cafeteria food is decent. Cooked and served there rather than being cooked and transported in. (Such as Eastern state hospital is) Yes you can get someone who may be grouchy. Mental health illness is a tough job to work and they are all human they may have a home life issue they are in the middle of. I feel that both times I have been admitted I was treated well and got the level of care they are designed for. They also don't toss you our without a plan. I was in the outpatient program immedialty no waiting. (Eastern state sent me home barely medicated and no outside help assigned. I had a four week wait to get in to outpatient and consequently had to be admitted to the Ridge just five weeks after l3aving Eastern State) Outpatient care through the Ridge was also a wonderful experience. Kat is an amazing therapist and all staff was decent. We dy who does med management seems to really know her stuff. I wasn't sure about her plan but so far all is going well. Most all outpatients I talked to agree with me on the wonderful care at outpatient. It is a more in depth therapy than you get at inpatient cause outpatient is designed to help us learn to cope everyday. This is why we need to be stabilized first. To handle the intense outpatient program. You also need to be open to getting help for it to work. Give the programs all your attention to getting better and I believe you will succeed. Remember mental illness is a life time struggle. No cure just help!!

The food they gave me really helped and the window jewels are in my dining room where everyone can see. All the staff and rec and nurses really do care and I love them for it . Thank you so much for everything you guys did for me. Also I bought a Minecraft TNT mini fridge just thought you should know that. I love you guys thank you.

Hi, Ridge Behavioral Health System (Owner)

Hi, Ridge Behavioral Health System (Owner)
Thank you for the opportunity to feel worse when leaving your facility, than when I arrived.
I would like to take the opportunity to address MY concerns with you directly.
Upon leaving, I was given a completely new diagnosis, which I discovered when signing my release forms. When I asked to speak with my Dr. to get a better understanding of his decision, and a possible treatment plan, I was told "he is with clients."
When I asked why he made such a decision and did not discuss it or treatment options with me, I was met with, "idk, I was not there, therefore I am not speaking about it." I was then told if I stayed a few more days, that I could possibly be able to talk with him.
When I asked, "where do I go from here?"
The Dr coldly stated, "therapy," which I do already.
Even though he had given me a completely different diagnosis than I had upon entering the facility, he didn't tell or offer to discuss it with me. Better yet, even discuss a treatment plan. He prescribed fish oil, Vitamin D and a Probiotic, with no further assistance other than to go to therapy.
I was held against my will, even though I did not have a 72 hour hold and I signed myself in.
I was denied BASIC hygiene at one point because I "missed the hygiene window," even though there was still 20 minutes left of leisure time. I wasn't allowed to shower, brush my teeth or use my deodorant. My room was cleared of all of my belongings at least two hours before I left. No sooner than 30 minutes after learning that I could finally leave, to my surprise, my room was cleared of all of my personal belongings and clothing. Including sheets, blankets and pillows. Not to mention, they couldn't find half of my things once I was allowed to leave.
My therapist did make sure I got my deodorant, but it was at least an hour after I had already asked multiple staff members at the desk and was denied.
Their idea of group therapy is laughable. I can print off self help pages from the Internet myself.
However, our peer support group leader was wonderful, and made the best of the situation he was given. He made a way to connect with each of us and let us know we were heard. Thank you Sean.
I was in excruciating pain from a previous physical and dental experience, and was told from my therapist that my mental health could not be addressed properly until my physical health was under control.
Yet I was still denied transportation to the ER from the desk staff. I was met with, "what are they going to do at the ER that we can't do here?"
Oh, I don't know, actually treat my symptoms properly and with something more potent that a Tylenol? (Even though I had brought my own prescription for dental pain, it was also denied.)
Yes, the food is okay, and most of the staff are wonderful.
But their "treatment plan," is a joke.
The storm had knocked out the power, so we couldn't take showers. When I asked to use the shower, I was told "no one wants to take a cold shower" and had to ask another nurse for my hygiene box.
The power outage was the least of my worries during my stay.
Their excuse to my poor experience was all blamed on their lack of electricity.
Electricity has nothing to do with therapy or the ability to adequately teach coping mechanisms.
This facility really needs to learn how to deal with individuals in crisis and the proper way to communicate with their clients.
The website is misleading and there are not therapists there 24/7.
I begged last night for someone to talk to and was told that the on call therapist was notified, but not responding.
I was later told that the on call therapist was mainly for children clients who arrived later in the evening.
I spoke with a patient advocate, who was very apologetic and willing to help me find help outside of The Ridge.
I honestly don't trust anyone in that facility with anything concerning my mental health.
I reluctantly went to this location for help, and left completely jaded.
I truly hope no one else has to suffer through an experience like this.

It was an okay place i would say.. yes once you get there it is a struggle especially for being a teenager, it will get cold at night so if they will let you ask for two blankets and the food there is pretty much like regular hospital food but its not bad just make sure your careful with others around you especially if you have a roommate. Some of the staff there are mean and some are nice. The teacher there is amazing i forgot her name but she is really kind and will make sure you get a educ...

Been to the ridge a few times in my teen years and it never helped not once it’s like a prison I felt worse leaving then I did going in it’s horrible here are some examples firstly when you go in and you’re being admitted once they actually admit you they go and do a strip search they make you squat and cough. They take away everything that you brought in. It doesn’t matter what it is. They will inject you with a medication that the patients like to call booty juice. For no valid reason and without consent I had a really bad migraine, and I went to lay down in my room because my door was unlocked for some reason I don’t know why instead of trying to give me medication or letting me rest or anything like that one of the male staff members comes into my room all alone and starts screaming at me how I need to wake up and get up and be a part of group which wasn’t even helpful no one took it seriously they never let you go outside, even if you were on your best behavior and even though they have a fenced in playground area within your first 24 hours of being there they will come into your room in the middle of the night and poke you to take your blood without your consent and if you refuse, they’ll get mad at you and they won’t let you out of the tiny little hallway that we stay on until we agree they will put you on medication and not explain to you what they are or what they will do the doctors and therapists don’t feel like that they like their job at all they make you feel as if you were a problem and you were bothering them even though that is their profession you cannot have a cell phone, which is kind of understandable, but you can’t even call your family whenever you want to or whenever you need to you can only do it when they say you can it’s a really scary place and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I have a lot more bad experiences, but I’m just gonna leave this here.

I’ll start by saying We live an hour away. I called this facility for some help, and we were transferred back and forth between the same three people for about 20 minutes because not ONE of them knew who I needed to speak to. A nurse took my phone number and promised a staff member would call me back promptly. Hours go by, I decided to call back on my own and was told we could just go ahead and come on in for assessment/intake.

We get there, wait a while, and a woman comes out and starts asking people if they can leave and do an assessment on the phone tomorrow, seemingly careless.
She then makes the announcement that we all need to leave because there are no available beds. A completely hopeless waste of time, gas, and energy that we barely had to start with.
