The Arbor helped our daughter with some coping skills. The staff was very helpful. Make sure to ask the Sober Living fees as well as the IOP fees. They were expensive. Then they tell the family about gifting the rent until the client gets a job. That part was not mentioned at the family meeting.

The Arbor, its staff, and its program completely changed my life! I highly recommend going there! Before my treatment there, I was depressed, had attempted to end my life, had no confidence, and no self worth or self love. I learned so much about mental illness and addiction, and received therapy for trauma I’d had since childhood. They helped me undo all the negative in my life. Before my treatment there, I was depressed, had attempted to end my life, had no confidence, and no self worth or self love. I learned so much about mental illness and addiction, and received therapy for trauma I’d had since childhood. They helped me undo all the negative in my life. I’m 41, and for the first time ever, I love myself, I know my worth, and I know I have meaningful purpose here. I try to live my life to the fullest and best of my ability. If they offered weekend retreats I would be there as often as possible! Everyone there truly wants to see those of us in recovery succeed and I could feel that during my stay. I went there broken & am a new woman now! Commit to the program, stay the 90 days, and you will be so glad you did…..there is something that happens in that last 30 that I’m not sure I would’ve gotten had I left sooner. Thank you to all of The Arbor staff for helping me achieve a life that I love.

During my 34-day stay at The Arbor for prescription medication addiction treatment, I encountered both commendable aspects and areas needing improvement. The medical and nursing staff were outstanding, offering attentive and compassionate care.
However, there were notable concerns. A significant issue was the need for self-advocacy, especially highlighted by my experience with a tooth infection. My pain was initially dismissed by a staff member, which necessitated assertive action on my part to receive appropriate dental care. To add insult to injury, this staff member even threatened to have me moved out of the Hope House (a privilege given to those who are actively engaged in their treatment, I was told) for daring to suggest I sleep in an extra hour because I stayed up all night due to the pain. However I didn’t take it too personally, that’s probably not the first time they’ve heard the tooth ploy to go on a field trip; nonetheless I certainly didn’t feel seen or heard. I had to all but threaten to ACA (discharge prematurely) to get a dentist appointment scheduled immediately. Luckily, Tamara is a saint and helped me schedule an emergency dentist appointment on a Sunday evening, so it ended up getting resolved once I managed to escalate the priority. This incident underlines the importance of patients actively advocating for their health needs within the facility. My situation was made more frustrating upon overhearing this staff member complain about the inconvenience of arranging a dental appointment on a Sunday. Their lack of empathy was disheartening, considering the serious nature of the infection.
A notable positive was Dr. Bryan, whose success as a fellow ADHD individual inspired me to pursue a PHD. His influence was a highlight of my stay.
There were several other incidents that cast a shadow on my overall experience. One such instance involved a counselor, Bobby, who is generally great at his job but made an inaccurate judgment about my behavior in a group session. He perceived me as being uncomfortable, whereas I was actually having one of the best days there. This misinterpretation was used as a rationale for extending my stay, which I found baffling.
Another critical point emerged late in my stay. On the 33rd day, I was informed that the facility typically offers a 30-day program because that’s the duration most insurances agree to cover, not because they feel like it’s a reasonable time frame to provide treatment. This was unexpected and not communicated earlier. While the Arbor’s website advertises a 30-day treatment, the intention often seems to extend beyond this period. This practice of potentially prolonging treatment durations was not made clear at the outset, which led to a last-minute suggestion to extend my stay conflicting with my departure plans (plans which I only ever discussed on a call with an Arbor counselor present, not in the clandestine manner they seemed to suggest I used). To further illustrate this point, I have no clue what IOP even is, I was never even pitched the idea and had it explained to me, the extent of my knowledge was gained through social osmosis.
Through this experience, one of the most valuable skills I learned at The Arbor was the use of an assertive voice – clearly stating needs and establishing personal boundaries.
In conclusion, The Arbor has a capable medical team and imparts important life skills. However, prospective patients should be vigilant in advocating for themselves, particularly regarding treatment length and discharge planning. Understanding the facility’s approach to treatment duration is crucial, as it might not align with initial expectations set by their advertising.

I just wanted to say thank you to Nachelle and Sam from The Arbor. Nachelle went above and beyond to work out our son’s insurance claims after it was denied multiple times. Sam kept us informed and has kept on top of the situation. Due to their hard work my son has been given the best opportunity to succeed in his recovery! The Arbor has been great and the staff excellent.

I was initially hesitant to seek treatment for my addiction, but I am beyond grateful that I did. The staff at Arbor made me feel welcome and supported from the moment I called admissions. They took the time to understand my unique situation and develop a personalized treatment plan that met my needs.
What I most respect about The Arbor is how comprehensive and evidence based their approach is, and that it covers all aspects of addiction recovery. I learned about the underlying causes of my addiction, how to cope with triggers, how to develop healthy coping mechanisms and how to address my past unhealed trauma. I also participated in individual, group, and family therapy, which helped me to work through my emotional challenges, build a support network, utilize acquired tools, and begin to repair damage of a life of addiction.
Additional therapeutic components of the program offered were: equine therapy, EMDR, yoga, meditation, workouts & self defense- led by professional trainer, and art experiential processing. The San Gabriel river is STUN.NING. and the grounds are excellently maintained- a beautiful backdrop for such impactful inner work. The food is also therapeutic, mainly bc it is delicious(!), but also because this chef led team is nurturing and able to accommodate dietary restrictions/ allergies, and thoughtfully prepare menus based specifically on the needs of those detoxing from alcohol and/or drugs.
I continued my treatment in IOP and sober living, and am adamant that this aftercare and support, after leaving residential, were quintessential in my sobriety and recovery journey.
Overall, I had an incredibly positive experience at The Arbor, quite literally LIFE CHANGING. I am now sober, living a happy and healthy life. I am grateful to every single person at The Arbor for helping me to achieve my recovery goals.
