This place is a mess starting with the people who run it. Richard the director can care less about anyone. Drugs are brought to facility on a daily basis, but he will kick you out for not apologizing or having a vape. Gina looks like she has a hangover everyday like she drinks every night. Very overcrowded and all the food is frozen and nasty. If you are homeless it may be the place but if you are looking for recovery stay away.

I truly wish that I could give zero stars. I commend those who flourished after this. My experience was much different. I stayed in a "house" in New London, located across from the court house (the pictures you see online are false). It was dilapidated and literally falling apart. My room was in the attic. 33 steps up, which was stifling in June. During the 23 days I was there, I saw thefts and drugs use, as well as sharing drugs, residential staff not present for days at a time, staff assig...

My room was in the attic. 33 steps up, which was stifling in June. During the 23 days I was there, I saw thefts and drugs use, as well as sharing drugs, residential staff not present for days at a time, staff assigning patients duties that were staff responsibility...The list goes on. I left, as I was there willingly and not court ordered. After 23 days away from my family, I realized they did nothing to actually help me. Not one single thing. The state paid them for a 23 day stay in hell. I saw my "clinician" Alison, twice for five minutes each time. The entire time I was there! I later went to an actual treatment center, and after actual work with a dedicated clinician, I have been sober now for over 8 years. This facility (I use that term loosely) milks the state of Connecticut for insurance. They are a fraud. Use caution. The reason they always "happen to have a bed so available", is because your just another dollar.

I spent a 3 day detox and 29 day program at Stonington 31 years ago.
The entire experience got me onto a footing that has kept me sober this long. The introduction to 12 step programs was paramount in my recovery and sustained sobriety. Still attending several a week.
I was allowed to give back by joining their volunteer program also good and grounding experience.
If you plan to go here, the results are up to you. You'll be given all the tool you need. Thanks Stonington.

I've been calling for over a week and a half now, and haven't been able to speak to anyone! It's ridiculous and so unprofessional. Also my significant other is there and its been overdoses?? That shouldn't even be possible at a REHAB/DETOX It's ashame how no one takes their job serious. They need to shut the whole Facility down. I'd love to be able to get into the detox TO BE ABLE TO EVEN DO SO but can't even get a answer. Was told I'd get a call back and STILL haven't. So frustrating. People...

i was there for a day and didn’t even make it through the night I went home and decided to detox at Hartford hospital. The staff is nice but they completely take away your individuality and aren’t able to accommodate anything for your special or unique needs. It felt like jail. they don’t allow you to have any personal items for comfort with I think is cruel because going through this is hard enough why make it harder. i was there for a day and didn’t even make it through the night I went home and decided to detox at Hartford hospital. The staff is nice but they completely take away your individuality and aren’t able to accommodate anything for your special or unique needs. It felt like jail. they don’t allow you to have any personal items for comfort with I think is cruel because going through this is hard enough why make it harder. I’m a performer a model a dancer I play instruments I read tarot cards and I couldn’t have a single thing that was important to my identity to make me feel some sort of comfort or feel at home. They wipe you of everything. i don’t think they understand every person is different. someone who has such a bright and colorful life and to not be able to do any of my creative art forms was inhumane. everyone is different and I could have stayed had I been able to keep some spiritual items with me or bring a guitar just to have a peaceful mind. i understand they’re trying to help people but they have to understand everyone is different and you can’t give everyone the same cookie cutter treatment you give everyone else. I wasn’t even allowed to use a makeup wipe to wipe my face off before bed or use my comb that I brought specifically for my curly hair. please understand people would be more compliant if they were a little more lenient and if they were treated like a human and not a prisoner or just a number. Even an inmate is allowed to get things they need in commonsary. life is hard enough please don’t make it harder.

After attempting to find a bed to detox, Stonington went out of their way to make sure I was being supported with bed and ride. That let me know someone cared. Looking forward to the next steps. Will update it future actions.
