This facility is an absolute joke. The patients are verbally and physically abused, I saw it multiple times with my own eyes. Springbrook cares about nothing but the money they get from their clients. If you are in search of a facility to assist you with your autistic child, whatever you do, do not send them to Springbrook. This facility is an absolute joke. The patients are verbally and physically abused, I saw it multiple times with my own eyes. Springbrook cares about nothing but the money they get from their clients. If you are in search of a facility to assist you with your autistic child, whatever you do, do not send them to Springbrook. I watched an innocent, scared, nonverbal child put in a padded room for HOURS for no reason other than he didn’t “listen” to staff. There is one specific “Unit Director” by the name of Ashley who cusses AT the clients, makes them go outside in freezing temps just to make her job easier, I could go on and on. This place is not safe for your children!!! They only want your money and as soon as they get it, your child will be released and you’ll be told that they’re magically just “better.” It’s the sad truth but people should be aware. Keep your babies far, far away from this treatment facility.

My daughter was admitted into Springbrook in July of 2021. My first impression of Springbrook was very positive, as they were very thorough with explaining how their program worked and what their initial steps were. The therapist assigned to my daughter was very friendly and seemed to genuinely care for her patients and my daughter immediately liked her.
Upon intake, we were promised that various testing would be done to verify my daughter was indeed on the spectrum, and the results of this testing would be provided to us so we could submit to the insurance for additional therapy after her discharge. We were also promised that my daughter would be slowly taken off her meds so that they could start over from scratch and find the correct medication combo for her. NONE of the testing or medication modification ever happened.
During her time at Springbrook, we had monthly treatment plan meetings, and weekly family therapy sessions via telehealth. Around October of 2011, my daughter started to finally open up and speak about what was going on with her. She revealed some violent and suicidal thoughts, including a desire to harm her siblings, my wife and I. My daughter also disclosed abuse that occured by her biological mother to the therapist, which went unreported to SCDHHS. Her therapist was present during these interactions, yet for some reason none of this was ever reported to the insurance company either. In late November, the insurance company believed, after receiving only positive reports, that progress had been made and set the date in December when coverage would cease. About this time, we started to express concern about her discharge, as we felt like the can of worms had been opened but therapy was nowhere near complete. My daughter wanted to kill our entire family and they were completely fine with sending her home in that state of mind. We were informed that unless we would be able to pay out of pocket for her to continue at Springbrook, that the discharge would continue as planned. Over the next few weeks some intense meetings with Springbrook occured regarding what seemed like a premature discharge, none of which went well. Her therapist seemed to feel personally attacked by these meetings and began to tell us one thing, and my daughters biological mother something completely different. This added unnecessary fuel to a custody battle as the therapist seemed to side with the abusive biological mother. My daughter was discharged in late December of 2011 and I brought her home, where we discovered the behaviors we had taken her to Springbrook for to begin with had worsened. Several months later, we took her in for the long overdue testing at a behavioral health center near where we live in middle TN. Turns out, Vanderbilt had mis-diagnosed my daughter with Autism incorrectly back in 2019 and she was re- diagnosed with conduct disorder and major depression. Had Springbrook done the testing that they had promised, they'd have realized my daughter wasn't on the spectrum to begin with, and that she was being medicated and treated for the wrong diagnosis.
Final thoughts: My daughter seemed to enjoy her time there for the most part, the staff treated her well, and she felt safe there which was initially a huge concern of mine because employment opportunities at facilities like this attract a lot of opportunists and predators. My major issue is that the testing and medication correction was never done in the 6 months she was there. When my daughter disclosed abuse to her therapist, it should have been reported to SCDHHS immediately (which i believe the therapist was legally obligated to do). As far as the premature discharge goes, I understand that Springbrook is in business to make money, and when insurance stops paying, they stop treating. Knowing what I know now, and with the direction of her treatment, I don't think additional time there would have benefitted my daughter much, as they were treating her for the wrong diagnosis. Please proceed with caution when sending your child here.

First, I would like to say that the facility itself is worn and badly in need of an update. That being said, the staff and doctors were kind, attentive, and responsive. The bedrooms and baths were clean. My husband enjoyed the food so much that he put some weight back on. When I found my husband was being sent here I was extremely upset after reading some of the reviews. It was our experience, in all things that truly matter in situations like these, Springbrook is doing a fine job.

Our son has been treated at Springbrook twice and we are very pleased with the care he received. The staff truly care about the patients and the nursing staff went above and beyond to help our son feel comfortable. The lead therapist communicated with us regularly and worked to help us find follow up care for our son. The staff truly made a hard situation for us so much better due to the kind and compassionate care they provided.

NO on so many levels.
First this facility is absolutely terrible for people with PTSD.
Second most the people behind the glass are a bunch of jerks.
Your floor nurses are decent. I should say 3 of them are. Jessica is absolutely wonderful and I do not see her staying there. Her, T, and Silverton cause I can't remember her name were the only ones that made sure we were taken care of.
Third I am not sure about all doctors but Dr. Lee should not even be working there. There was one doctor I thin...

Third I am not sure about all doctors but Dr. Lee should not even be working there. There was one doctor I think maybe indian, a lady Dr and she was the only doctor trying to take care of our needs. Dr Lee who was at the facility twice within 1 week is absolutely ridiculous. We had about 5 of us veterans who had him as a Dr and he was never around for anything we needed. This guy even told one of the vets that PTSD is not real but then gave someone else a ptsd diagnosis. What in the world sense does that make? Also another veteran asked to see the Dr and they wouldn't let him. He asked to speak to patient advocate and was denied. He had to tell them it's the law and got upset. Finally they got him the Dr and they gave him 4 more days for getting upset.
4th there is a physical nurse and she actually comes up with some great stuff.
5th all you do is sleep and then get surrounded to a full room around a TV. There was 3 group sessions in my 4 day stay.
6th back to PTSD, the nurses only received 1 class to deal with patience and PTSD.
7th Their schedule is a joke. Wake up at 530 do vitals, wait an hour do meds, wait an hour finally go smoke. Then you wait hours for lunch. Come back wait around some more then finally go smoke. 4 smoke breaks in a 17 hour day.
Honestly if you are looking for help please do not go here. I would love to sit down with whoever runs this place and get their mess together cause this place should not be standing.
