It was my first time at Shasta regional as an outpatient. I had some testing done and everyone was friendly. Admitting was fast and friendly, and the employees also. I visited the gift shop and they had beautiful flowers for sale for $20 and $34. Nice experience overall.

Took my son to the ER and ended up walking out after 5 hours. They took his blood but nothing else. No communication or anything. There was one other person in the waiting area and they were seen and gone within the first hour of us being there. I understand there are emergencies that need to be treated sooner but this was ridiculous. We left at 2 am and I took him to urgent care the next morning. I understand there are emergencies that need to be treated sooner but this was ridiculous. We left at 2 am and I took him to urgent care the next morning. They ended up sending us back to the ER but we went to Mercy instead. Still a 5 hour wait but they had an overfilled waiting area and did all his labs and imaging and checked his vitals periodically. I will never return to this hospital and they are lucky that the delay in treatment wasn’t harmful just hours of needless pain. I do not recommend Shasta Regional ER.

I have to say that I don't expect much from hospitals these days, but my experience here was absolute misery. I went in with a high fever and symptoms of an abdominal infection on a Saturday just after noon. They did labs fast enough, but then the wait began. The waiting room emptied out over the hours, people were being seen in "fast track", or given beds, although many were in better shape than me. Eventually it was just me and an elderly lady who had been crying in pain for hours. I was wa...

The waiting room emptied out over the hours, people were being seen in "fast track", or given beds, although many were in better shape than me. Eventually it was just me and an elderly lady who had been crying in pain for hours. I was way too out of it at the time to complain, and barely able to walk myself. Oh, and the parade of security guys at the metal detector, who watched the game show network in between patients. Five hours later, with no water for all that time(they said I couldn't drink anything till I was seen) a doctor came out and in the waiting room, because who needs privacy, that oh yeah you have a kidney infection, should be able to get you a bed in another hour or so. Once I got back, and they wanted my bed, the nurse opened up the IV and drained the bag so fast my lungs got overloaded with fluid. And the gal from registration suggested I win the lottery to pay the bill. Never again. Stay away.

I’m a travel nurse and have worked at several hospitals, some were great places where the staff actually showed that they care about people and you felt appreciated. Then there’s the cesspool called Shasta Regional Medical Center. I have never seen a more miserable and disgruntled group of nurses and nurse managers in my life. If you want broken equipment and broken souls then Shasta Regional is the place for you. I would rather commute to Sacramento than work with this brood of vipers, and I...

Then there’s the cesspool called Shasta Regional Medical Center. I have never seen a more miserable and disgruntled group of nurses and nurse managers in my life. If you want broken equipment and broken souls then Shasta Regional is the place for you. I would rather commute to Sacramento than work with this brood of vipers, and I would NEVER let someone I cared about be treated there. Hateful people don’t make good caregivers. And SRMC can save your canned apology as it clearly means nothing coming from a completely soulless and desperate organization.

My experience was very good. I was seen fairly quickly and treated with kindness and respect. The staff acted professionally and demonstrated that throughout the entire procedure. I will choose this hospital over any other because of their competency and the good character qualities demonstrated.

My sister recently broke her shoulder and was treated at emergency at SMRC. Her treatment the night of her fall was excellent. The follow up was not good. They did not fax the prescription for pain medication to the pharmacy as stated. I went back to get that taken care of and to update my sisters Medicare information. Was told it was done. When I went to pick up RX at pharmacy the next day, they had no record of it.

I can't say that I had bad care at Shasta Regional Medical Center, it was more like NO CARE. After stomach surgery, I was pretty much left allow. No one got me up for a walk or checked my vitals. Admittedly, I was pretty much out for the night, but the nurse that did come in late the next morning was surprised I still had a pressure cuff on. Though I have Pulmonary Fibrous, I had to ask for a spirometer to work my lungs. Twice I tried to page a nurse for over a 1/2 hr. before anyone came. Wh...

Though I have Pulmonary Fibrous, I had to ask for a spirometer to work my lungs. Twice I tried to page a nurse for over a 1/2 hr. before anyone came. When my first meal came, lunch the next day, it was mostly milk product (clam chowder soup, milk, ice cream, and jello). I had listed that I am lactose intolerant at my pre-op and check-in. The next tray was solid food, even though I was on a liquid diet. The nurse did finally bring me some jello and bouillon, so I could have something to eat before my 2 hr ride home. My son, who picked me up, was happy to get me out of there. If I am given a choice, I hope never to go back there.

I came into Shasta Regional by ambulance on a Thursday. It was very busy. I remained on the ambulance gurney in the hall way for approximately 90 minutes. I truly felt bad for the staff as they were doing their very best to take care of each and everyone of us. They all get a big thumbs up from me. But here is a major problem that I see, because I was on the ambulance gurney I was tying up that ambulance from helping others in need and I wasn't the only patient that was doing that. But here is a major problem that I see, because I was on the ambulance gurney I was tying up that ambulance from helping others in need and I wasn't the only patient that was doing that. To top it off Mercy had stopped receiving ambulances. I know staffing is a problem in the north state and I don't have any ideas how to fix it.
