Horrible experience. I had hope at first but they mistreat people. This is not a place of healing, this felt like jail and I felt so trapped. To go into detail, the unit was so tiny and you weren’t allowed out of it unless to go to the cafeteria, the food was bland and sad and they had us line up like literal prisoners. I was well behaved while I was there, low risk, but they still wanted to keep me longer?? I know it’s because they profit financially off of us, it’s like over $12k per day bu...

To go into detail, the unit was so tiny and you weren’t allowed out of it unless to go to the cafeteria, the food was bland and sad and they had us line up like literal prisoners. I was well behaved while I was there, low risk, but they still wanted to keep me longer?? I know it’s because they profit financially off of us, it’s like over $12k per day but don’t quote me. The doctor barely spoke to me and somehow declared me noncompliant. It felt like they just wanted reasons to keep us there longer. Now to talk about the conditions in the place. There was no ventilation, no windows, and super bright lights all throughout the night. They lost some of my belongings and I didn’t even see them in the inventory. THIS IS NOT A PLACE OF HEALING. The nurses are inattentive, they withheld my medications which when I tried to advocate for myself, the nurse said to me “you look like you’re getting anxious. Take this pill. You’re refusing it?” And I was upset because I’m very diligent on my meds and they told me the doctor should’ve seen me so that he could order it but he didn’t. They didn’t seem to care, were inattentive, and extremely disorganized. They didn’t seem to communicate across each other because I kept getting told different info from different staff members. At least I became friends with my roommate, of whom I bonded with over how they probably just do this for a paycheck and reputation and they dgaf enough to treat us compassionately and gently. We are fragile and vulnerable, and this place traumatized me further.

In my personal experience it wasn’t a complete disaster but it’s not good. I went into treatment from the ER after getting out on a hold. First impressions were great, the intake was very friendly but as soon as I went in the experience changed. Everything was a lot more serious and not as friendly. I was first put into a run with a patient who was throwing things and screaming at me all night long. The next day they moved me rooms which was nice however the units are just a hallway lined wit...

The next day they moved me rooms which was nice however the units are just a hallway lined with double rooms on both sides with a nurses station at the end and a “day room” with two chairs. I was on a high dosage of antidepressants and kept asking to be able to take them as I usually take them in the morning. They told me I’d have to speak to a doctor first which I understand but I didn’t get to see a doctor till the afternoon and by then I was feeling very sick from withdraws. My entire stay I was given my meals and a bed and that’s about it. I only received one “group therapy” session that was basically a speech about throwing cold water on our face to calm down. Is was almost maddening itself just being there completely bored with just a couple of channels and a few books. The staff themselves could be very patronizing to patients they deem not as stable. What was only supposed to be a 72 hour hold ended up being 5 nights because the doctor was out and couldn’t discharge me. Luckily another doctor was able to come on their day off and was able to discharge me a day earlier than the planned 6 nights. It didn’t really seam to help at all and when I asked a worker about it they just said honestly it’s not going to help we’re just trying to keep you alive and that kinda sums it up. It didn’t really help and wasn’t a comfortable experience but it kept me safe I suppose.

I was a patient here and to say the very least the staff never checked if you are out of shampoo or toothpaste I kept asking for this stuff and they would give me only for one day supply and they are not very friendly! More importantly, this place messed up on my gender they wrote male instead of female and when I brought this up to them they simply ignored me !!! Which seemed to be every day, I will try my best to never come back to this PLACE!!!

Without sounding too dramatic, this was the worst inpatient psychiatric unit I’ve seen. Family member went there twice. I thought they were exaggerating about the conditions but it was all verified by their own staff. I couldn’t believe that showers were burning hot and some patients even had burn marks so therefore no one took a shower. Another was a young patient who was banging her head against the wall ( I personally saw this myself) and she started to bleed and the charge nurse did nothing. A patient tested positive for COVID and they would not allow her to leave the room and made her have the door closed for 8 days. However, the AC was not working correctly and the poor older woman was stuck in there. The admitting nurse casually mentioned that this particular hospital had been closed a couple of times and then re-branded. There’s a lot more but you definitely get the idea. I’m glad some had a good experience here but I would not gamble with fragile family members who are in need of help.

I’m surprised and wasn’t what I was expecting. Visited my family member and was greeted nicely by the reception and the nurses were very nice. He came here from the Emergency room and we didn’t know what to expect. He is doing well and likes his treatment and food is very good. So far so good. Would recommend.

THIS IS STRICTLY FOR THE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM
I was in SJBH hospital for 10 days before being walked directly to the outpatient program.
At first I was hesitant about being there. I had been in other PHP/IOP programs that were less intensive and not as productive. I even told the group that I didn't see myself staying there long.

What I found, however, was an incredible staff with empathetic leaders who guided us patients on a healing path to discover our true selves. The staff provided thoughtful and intriguing resources that challenged our thought patterns and behaviors that were sometimes maladaptive to society, or at least self-detrimental. They helped me appreciate myself and my abilities more. They taught me practical coping skills, how to have radical acceptance, relaxation techniques, Tolerance, patience, and so much more.
The patients were so incredibly supportive. They were genuine and welcomed me as part of their group. They supported me and helped be the surrogate ego that I needed as I built my own.
The entire experience was incredible and invaluable. I have come away with so much more insight and have experienced extreme personal growth. Today was my last day, I graduated from the program! The entire program was extremely happy and supportive of me, and told me that if I need them, I am welcome to return. I am grateful for the patients, the staff, the program, and all of the incredible support I received. THANK YOU SJBH PHP AND PATIENTS!!

They sent my daughter to this place without her consent or without me signing her in or my wife, they said they didn't need our signatures, and that they had to take her for at least 72 hours from Wednesday to Friday night, because the 50/51 that they say she has, on Friday at 11:30 pm the 72 hours were over and the nurse told my wife that if we could leave her until Saturday morning because all the patients were already there asleep, which we agreed to, and when we arrived the next day to pi...

They sent my daughter to this place without her consent or without me signing her in or my wife, they said they didn't need our signatures, and that they had to take her for at least 72 hours from Wednesday to Friday night, because the 50/51 that they say she has, on Friday at 11:30 pm the 72 hours were over and the nurse told my wife that if we could leave her until Saturday morning because all the patients were already there asleep, which we agreed to, and when we arrived the next day to pick it up, no one opened the door for us and no one answered the phone, after calling several times they finally answered and my wife explained that we were going to pick up our sheet but they said that They didn't know why the nurse had told my wife that they could take her away and they said they couldn't let her out because she wasn't ready to go out. Information Update in March 4 2023, “on July 2023 Me and my wife decided to take our daughter out of this hospital again, because we discovered that the medication she was taking since started getting sick, was making her feel sicker, the side effects were worse than when she was getting depressed, me and my wife took the risk of signing her out of this facility against the “doctors recommendations, because they wanted to change another medication with bad side effects like heart attack” Note “I’m not incurring any body to take out your loved ones that are sick from good hospitals where they really wasn’t to help you and your kid that is sick, and look for a better hospital or a better way to really help them, under your own decision and your own risk” “because, somebody sent the social worker to our home saying that we were committing negligence by not following instructions from the doctors by not medicating and taking out our daughter of this facility. Thanks Jehovah God and other naturist doctors, we were able to help her at time and, she is getting better, and returning to school after almost a year of not going to school., NOTE “this is our personal experience, and is not going to be the same experiences or results for other people” please take good care of your loved ones, and search for other methods and better doctors and hospitals, and help your loved ones as you will like them to help you if you were in need as they are. God Bless you and your loved ones.

I'm the Parent, not the angry kid reporting in here. my first experience was ok, actually pretty good, but I was dealing with Stephanie, and she seemed to care and have a good understanding of both the need to communicate with parents and support the child. unfortunately my daughter ended up there again. this time, there was NO " Team " working on her behalf, the term, case manager, therapist, social worker" seem to be synonymous and I question if her assigned worker had any of these real tit...

I'm the Parent, not the angry kid reporting in here. my first experience was ok, actually pretty good, but I was dealing with Stephanie, and she seemed to care and have a good understanding of both the need to communicate with parents and support the child. unfortunately my daughter ended up there again. this time, there was NO " Team " working on her behalf, the term, case manager, therapist, social worker" seem to be synonymous and I question if her assigned worker had any of these real titles. there seems to be only 2 people in charge of these children, the Psych, that is the first one that will call you to medicate them. 2 then the multifaceted person that spends 5 minutes a day with them. the kids do not appear to do any therapy, only play games and do art. after multiple calls to the C.O.O., I"ve given up, the COO did not call me back. Her therapist, focused only on what "The child needs" and not that the child should be accountable for their feelings and actions. My daughter has suffered for over a week this time, she sounds worse than when she got there, and there is little to no collaboration from the staff. Perhaps my expectations were too high, this truly is a "Stabilization only through medication facility" no therapy is benefited here...
