The Stratton VA Medical Center works specifically with veterans who are struggling with drug and alcohol abuse as well as any other mental health conditions that may be causing further complications. They provide access to an outpatient clinic as well as an inpatient drug rehabilitation center, allowing these men and women to determine which levels of care best fit their needs. The residential substance abuse services are geared more towards veterans who are also struggling with homelessness and financial difficulties due to unemployment. This provides them with access to care that they might not otherwise be able to afford. Services include individual therapy, group counseling, medication management, educational services, community support, chiropractic care, nutritional guidance and so much more. The goal is really to assess the client's needs and goals and then design an effective residential program based on that.

Spouse and I are both blessed to have coverage both through the VA and private insurance. We can go anywhere we want with little or no expense. So we would go to private provider for everything, right? We thought so and we were wrong. VA has been the only place that has treated us both with respect and compassion. I will continue to go to the VA despite having many other options, simply because I get better care at the VA. This is especially true with emergency services; Stratton team will ...

Worst service ever go to different hospital .All the rest in the area are better then this one.. Staff is rude and disrespectful. The patients are pushed to do tests and take medication against there will. Family members are treated with complete disrespect. The patients advocate are refused to see them until after visiting hours 1-8pm. Which isn't post anywhere but at the entrance on the floor. ER doesn't tell you that during admitting. Leaving the patients confused and lost and rooms have...

We had a great experience today. My veteran husband had cataract surgery. All of the nurses were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I'm sorry for the patients who had a bad experience. There is no reason to treat veterans anything but exceptionally well. We are grateful for the VA. SO close to us.

Be prepared for long wait time, complete apathy, and to be treated like garbage. Most of the people that work in the VA system, just in general, act like you are an inconvenience to them. I’ve heard from a number of vets that they think that the VA makes it as difficult as possible to use VA benefits in hopes that vets will get too frustrated and just give up trying to claim their benefits. After dealing with this facility, I completely believe it. Specialists only working one day a week so t...

They discontinued my meds because my psychiatrist left to work at another facility. Did they tell me they were going to do this? No. Did they schedule me for an appointment with my new psychiatrist? No. I called up and spoke with mental health, they said someone would get back to me shortly to schedule an appointment with my new psychiatrist. Did I ever get that phone call? No. I called again and spoke to mental health. They said I had to get a referral from my primary care team to get an app...

I am a 100 percent disabled vet and I will avoid this place at all cost as to many civilians act like they know military personnel and treat them poorly. This place is a terrible place to be if you’re a combat veteran. This place makes you more stressed out if you try to get help please don’t let these people hurt you more go private insurance if you can. Reform is needed bad here.

If you are a veteran, this is your one stop shop. Staff are caring and professional. Facilities are clean and comfortable. I brought my WWII father here for primary care, ophthalmology, optometry, audiology and podiatry. Was very happy with our experience - You will be too.

Ok- so we know if a doctor graduates top of his class-he’s going private practice. “C” students will find employment at local hospitals and possibly a small family practice somewhere- Those who just barely made it through… will be entering the military or going to work at the VA. Albany Stratton is no different except for that they involve medical students in patient care and call it progressive. With doctors so stressed out, too many patients, substandard training or perhaps just not that br...
