I recently stayed here for 8 day's. Most of the Staff are amazing. The food is actually good, but treatment could have been better. For one, I never even received a welcome packet or a beacon. Several staff knew that I never had a beacon and it was okay. And this was the first psychiatric hospital that I've been to and didn't receive a welcome packet. And staff stole a pack of my cigarettes, and they were replaced with cigarettes that I don't even smoke. So, overall, this place was okay.

Honestly, ive wrote this review a few times and I always miss key points as to why not to come here but the 1 star says it all. I already voiced my concerns to the so called "patient advocate" which will not be addressed, I'm sure of that. All he kept saying was "okay" and he would have a social worker call me BC they messed up my meds when calling them into the pharmacy however its been two.days and no one has called me back. He didnt apologize or even say he was going to address the issues....

The "techs" and nurses are so unprofessional. They play on their phones, they even face time which is a HIPAA violation. When doing your check-in they do it right at the counter so everybody around you can hear what your problem is. The staff curse and the Dr. Yeager answers his phone while in middle of a session with his patients. He also only talks to you ONE time and he makes it very clear after that one time, you no longer his concern. They dont give you ur meds every day at the same time. They have a power trip and are ghetto as hell.
I would complain about the food but honestly theres WAY MORE IMPORTANT issues to discuss besides for diabetics of course or people with eating disorders. I could write a book of issues I had while staying here.
On a positive note, the social workers and group leaders are so helpful, friendly, and understanding. I believe they truly care. There are some staff members and techs that truly care as well but they are rare. The groups are so helpful and sometimes enjoyable. I do feel that they could offer some communication classes such as crucial conversations I feel that would be helpful.
Overall, I would rather go else where but i would come back if I had absolutely no other choice. There's two positives to coming to this place, one they put me on another anxiety medication which is very helpful that I've been trying to get on for years and two, I now know where I can make donations that are actually going to be used.

Average rating for an average behavioral hospital in the United States of America. Average is a poor rating. Shame on those financially to gain. May they feel shame as they golf and dine at their elite dining establishments. As they vacation at elite resorts. Two stars. Below average. One star well below average. If there was less to rate this facility it would hardly capture the truth about this subpar hospital.

I had a wonderful experience here. The doctor took a great deal of time to speak with me and work out my medications to help me return home. The Nurses were so nice even the President of the hospital saw me regularly! Thank you River Vista for helping me regain my life.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I just was discharged after a 5-day stay on the Discovery unit and I got absolutely NO help from this facility.
•Never once saw a psychiatrist, only an NP once. Needed some new type medication and was dismissed.
•The staff (mostly techs) swear at each other (playfully, but still totally inappropriate).
•no diabetic-friendly options as far as snacks and especially drinks
•A couple times arguments came about between male patients that almost led to physical...

•A couple times arguments came about between male patients that almost led to physical altercations- one evening, there was a male staff member literally was 3ft away from two dudes makes threats & yelling & the staff member didn't even try to deescalate the situation. A nurse came running over & asked "why aren't you stopping them??" & the male tech literally just shrugged as he continued to be on his phone.
In conclusion- This place is not healthy for anyone, in my opinion. I was around some deeply disturbed people and often feared for my safety. River Vista did not help me in any way.
Shout out to the following techs for being wonderful :
-Nita (tech) made a great impact on myself and surely other with her night groups. Could tell she really cares & she offered fantastic insight & shared some of the things she's gone through & was very relatable.
-Kimmy & Brooke were also very pleasant and not dismissive of me in any way.

A friend was there and some man that was 40 something came into her room in the middle of the night (she is in her young 20s) and felt her her legs and bottom up. They addressed the situation by having a side talk with the men in the unit and it made the situation worse. Unsafe environment for women especially.

I would NEVER recommend this hospital to anyone. I was here in April of 2020. First, after they ran a check on my insurance, my iPhone, glasses, clothes, shoes, drivers license and credit cards were stolen. Second, I lost my identity and contact with the world for a while. I was silenced via injection to keep me from talking. I had no mental breakdown. I was at a hotel awaiting my flight to California when I was assaulted during a near robbery. Once here RiverVista stayed clear of contact with my family and my health care providers due to fear I would be released before they received the ultimate payout from my insurance. There were also criminals being treated there and it was violent. They had nurses that knew their stuff, but a social worker named Dian pretty much ran the place and called the shots, and it's to her benefit not yours. What I witnessed is nurses behind the counter just do what they are told. The social worker stays in contact with your insurance and the courts while totally making up false reports about your mental health. It's all about the money. Well that was in 2020 and a lot has changed since then. Thanks to Mike DeWine you can legally and safely defend yourself. We are ultimately responsible for ourselves. There is help out there and you need to find it before this place finds you. *Update: Changes are coming. Mike DeWine is on a mission to get good people the help they need. Today he said that most of these hospital's are made up with criminals. He said there is no good place for good people to go. EXACTLY WHAT I SAID 4 YEARS AGO!
