I came here as a voluntary patient. Tbh, my first night was extremely traumatic. I won’t ever forget the whole experience in general. But my second day was better. All of the nurses and staff were so kind. They didn’t treat me poorly or like I was crazy. They deal with an awful lot that no one see’s and I wish people would give them more credit. I want to thank Maddy, Anna, Pierre, Hillary and Doctor B for everything. I met some really amazing people here, patients and staff alike. I was scar...

I want to thank Maddy, Anna, Pierre, Hillary and Doctor B for everything. I met some really amazing people here, patients and staff alike. I was scared coming here. But it was worth it. God put me here for a reason & I sought it out and found it. I’m not going to lie and say I’m “healed” because healing isn’t linear and it’s also never ending. But the sunshine on the other side .. that’s worth it. It’s worth the tears and the pain and the heartache. I am so incredibly thankful for Red River. I would have been dead had I not come here. If I ever end up back where I was, I’ll gladly come back to Red River for help.

The techs, nurses, doctors, and lunch room staff are fabulous. But that is where the positives end. It was 8 days before I saw a counselor. When I did meet her, I was told we would meet every day. That didn't happen. When I did meet her, I always felt hurried and had to come up with an exit plan for myself.

Initially I was told I would be put into assisted living and they would put me in a position where my prescriptions would be paid for. Instead, I just got dumped at True Worth mission in Fort Worth. Where the conditions are horrible! Not to mention, there were 3 street fights in less than 15 minutes in broad daylight even with a police car parked out front.
The hospital was so seriously understaffed that many times our groups were cancelled. And another patient was running many of them. The structure was almost nonexistent.
While there, I was moved 6 times and had 9 different roommates. Much more than any other patients on the floor. Plus, I was there for PTSD and depression but was placed the 2nd day in the chemical dependency ward. Where I spent much of my time in AA related group sessions run by a patient with a Class A personality who demeaned several patients to the point of tears and misery. But he did get along with me and left me alone.
As for the food, it was good but they served a lot of bread to patients who were constipated by their prescriptions. And that in itself pretty much sums up this place.
I came to Red River seeking help and hope. I was at the end of my rope with empty promises and people saying one thing and doing another. Instead, I just got more of the same. And no hope at all.

Working at this place as a tech is horrible so please reconsider. Most of the RN’s & LVN’s will talk to you like you are beneath them. if you are too nice to patients they will talk about you behind your back. I was called “inviting” for being too nice to male patients and too “friendly“ for being nice to the female patients. I treated all my patients how they were suppose to be treated and not like test rats. If you are attacked by a patient or harassed, higher ups will tell you they will pu...

If you are attacked by a patient or harassed, higher ups will tell you they will put you on a different unit until that person is discharged, but don’t get your hopes up. The best advice I can give you is either deal with it for the remaining of their stay or look for another job. They don’t care. I left a great impact on most of my patients and that was the best part of the job, that and quitting.

I was abused, beaten by other prisoners at red river. No one lifted a finger. They denied me a BIBLE, A LAWYER, AND A DOCOTOR. Civil rights attorneys should be all over this place. Who is in charge here? We couldn't even go to church or have family visitation because of long past COVID polices. Someone needs to look into this place. I filed a complaint but haven't seen them do ANYTHING.

I brought my daughter to Red River for treatment. She has anxiety and depression. Her therapist was Sabrina. That is one amazing woman. She gave myself, and my child a glimmer of hope after her experience. Sabrina I cannot thank you enough for the role you played helping my daughter. You moved unmovable mountains. I believe we will see a light at the end of the tunnel now. Thank you so much for helping my daughter, and our family.

Staff was very helpful. Our son went in crisis and his mental health improved tremendously. I would highly recommend. The only complaint is we never got the the chance to talk to the dr. He never returned our calls however my son had a good experience with the staff that helped him so this is why I’m giving the five stars.

I was moved from 3rd floor to 1st. The Staff was wonderful, and very busy. They were kind and understanding and willing to help. Dr. Jay Bolaram by far was my favorite of all Dr's I've seen. I wasn't excited about being admitted, but my stay was comfortable and I made some friends. I had been on the wrong medication for a misdiagnosis from another facility. I strongly recommend Red River, Dr. Bolaram, the nursing staff and especially the sweet techs and aids. P.S. The food is good and the kit...

It was the first time I stayed at a psych ward because my employers knew I was suicidal at the time and it was an obligation to go. Having heard how terrible the state hospital is I'm glad I had insurance. I felt no judgement in there, made a lot of friends, the staff was laid back and kind. I even almost quit smoking while in and when I got out I had a completely different outlook. It's a shame my conditions are life long though but that's on my system not because it was a bad hospital, in f...

I even almost quit smoking while in and when I got out I had a completely different outlook. It's a shame my conditions are life long though but that's on my system not because it was a bad hospital, in fact I'd consider it one of the better ones. People need to realize how much worse they'd be at state hospital. It wasn't perfect but I'm still doing five stars to up your low scores.
