If your looking for a facility to let you down in terms of treatment this is the place. Empty plans, empty promises of treatment, ZERO confidence with this facility... the first sign of escalation they terminate the plan and refuse treatment and send you packing. Staff sound like they have it put together that they care but in all reality its smoke and mirrors. If you need to get a hold of your team they wont answer the phones. They truly provide a level of uncertainty where it feels like more harm came from this place. please find a better solution then placing your hopes in their treatment. You will be like me and find yourself in a worse situation because they abandon their clients. They will mess with your medication and before seeing if the changes will help they remove you with ZERO remorse! This facility gives up on their clients on the families they say they will help. They sell that they are a lock down facility but they have a door you can push and allows their clients ( children ) to get out and run away. DO NOT TRUST THIS FACILILTY they will do more harm than good.

Having a child that needs mental health services is never easy for either the child, their families, or the people providing the care. I think if you asked my child about the experience, it would be overall positive. You have to recognize that for it to be any level of positive, that’s a huge way up from the starting point. We have much more hope for the future, our child has better mental health. Is PrairieCare perfect? Of course not. But they have a genuinely caring staff and the netwwo...

I would give this place negative Stars if I could. Our Dr suggested my daughter go to half out patient classes. She went for 6 weeks over the summer, every day. She was supposed to get help for her anxiety & sensory problems & was to be watched to see of they thought any other diagnoses fit her better. The day we were scheduled for a tour and intake the lady interviewing us was sick and kept leaving to vomit. Other people busted into the room and we had to move on more than one occasion becau...

She was supposed to get help for her anxiety & sensory problems & was to be watched to see of they thought any other diagnoses fit her better. The day we were scheduled for a tour and intake the lady interviewing us was sick and kept leaving to vomit. Other people busted into the room and we had to move on more than one occasion because they had no idea who was supposed to be where and everyone was confused. They promised us an evaluation with an occupational therapist for my daughters sensory problems (NEVER HAPPENED).
It ended up being more of a place for trouble making kids. They sent a sheet home every week that the parents had to fill out on how we disciplined our daughter at home and what problems we had. Um... None? She isn't in trouble! She has mental health issues.
During our intake they promised me they would work with my daughter for lunch and snacks because of her sensory issues. I had to ask multiple times why my daughter say through lunch with no food and finally on her LAST WEEK THERE they figured it out and offered her other things.
It was extremely traumatic for my daughter. She still gets upset taking about it. Send a kid with anxiety & sensory issues to a place full of kids that are naughty & loud etc.
Biggest regret of my life. I wish I told the Dr to shove it and never sent my daughter there. The entire process was unorganized. They have no idea what they are doing and I would NOT hand your child over to them.

Your child can end up here for a multitude of reasons, however, the one common aspect is that your child needs serious intervention. My child hit bottom and Prairie Care was there to stabilize my child and start the rebuilding process. Life is cruel and Prairie Care played a huge role is saving my child and creating a framework for learning, coping, self advocating and emotional management.

I was here for a mental breakdown caused by a medication screw up. This place is awful. There is cameras on you 24/7 that are being monitored 24/7. There is not a moment the staff are not monitoring you. I was only allowed to see 10 people at maximum. The bedrooms are not at all welcoming. The only electronics I was allowed to have were radio headphones and a noise machine. When I ripped off a knob on my headphones out of frustration ( the headphones still worked fine.) they took both of my e...

When I ripped off a knob on my headphones out of frustration ( the headphones still worked fine.) they took both of my electronics away. You are only allowed to call family 3 times a day. And my therapist prescribed me a useless medication that was supposed to help with my anger. I did nothing but make me more angry more often.

This is to PrairieCare Residential and not the hospital.
This treatment center is unique compared to other residential treatment centers as they are smaller and part of the larger PrairieCare System. That being said the programming is geared towards each of the residents and has a large family component which is positive side. The program on the floor is focused on learning social skills, life skills, DBT skills and leaning new coping skills that are beneficial. PrairieCare Residential overa...

Staff does not communicate, never return phone calls, they discharged my daughter stating “she needed a higher level of care, come get her” no paperwork, no medications or even a list of medications. When I arrived to pick her up, staff wouldn’t answer any questions, wouldn’t even speak to me about what to do next.
