I agree with all of these reviews. I went here twice in 2021, once in January and again in August. The first time I went in, I was 12 and I had to be in Cholla which is the boys unit. Because I guess there weren't enough beds in the girl's unit. I almost got jumped because I glanced at another patient in apparently the wrong way. There was this girl who was bragging about how she's lesbian and how she almost did not so appropriate things with another patient. And then I got moved to Saguaro, ...

And then I got moved to Saguaro, and there were these two patients who kept making out when they got the chance. The second time I went in, this girl had a favorite tech that apparently did one thing she didn't like, and I never liked him in the first place either. He put me in the smaller day room in Ocotillo and it was late at night, and at that point I got triggered by those things and had an anxiety attack. So the girl took me to the end of the hallway right underneath the speaker/camera and went into detail about a plan she had. Basically she was going to call him over, attack him, I was going to grab the keys, and we were going to escape. I told her no and tried to talk her out of it, but she told me she WANTED to go to juvie. I told her that there was no way I was going to do it because I was leaving the next day anyways. So then she called the tech over and started kicking and punching him and I got scared and backed up. Later on we were in the hallway again and this other patient came out of the main day room, started kicking and punching the other girl, grabbed her hair and dragged her at least half way down the hallway while she was screaming at the top of her lungs. I started having a panic attack and I was still panicking after a while. I went back into the main day room and pretty much all of the other patients were laughing about it and mimicking her screaming and calling her a cry baby and stuff. So I got triggered and walked out and I guess that the tech that was watching us said something like, "If she keeps acting like that, then she's not going home tomorrow." That's really not your choice. And I was doing something healthy rather than making a scene. There was also this other patient going around and pinning other people to the wall and trying to kiss them. It's not a good place at all. If you are thinking of going there or sending someone there, please please please think about somewhere else. The last one that I went to was Aurora and that was over 2 years ago and that one helped me the most. That's my personal experience, but I do recommend Aurora. But please, don't go here.

Zero stars. This is supposed to be a MENTAL HEALTH facility. NOT A JAIL!!! Please please please read the reviews. My son went in here in the worst shape of his life because he NEEDED HELP. He came out worse, 100X worse plus extra trauma. These kids go in here suicidal, and you treat them like criminals. Is it a crime to want to die? They want to die so they have to physically fight every minute they come through your doors to stay safe. Makes sense right? They are forced to fight, they try to...

They want to die so they have to physically fight every minute they come through your doors to stay safe. Makes sense right? They are forced to fight, they try to hide to stay safe. How can any of you justify what your facility is putting CHILDREN that have no where else to go, through. Praying this place gets shut down. I'll bet they can't name one child they have helped. Disgusting! They will threaten you to call child services if you pull your kid A.M.A but trust me when I tell you PULL THEM, no one at DHS will bother you one bit- I called myself. And DHS said they are aware of this facility and its treatment, they recommended Avery House, and took an official grievance. PULL YOUR KIDS IMMEDIATELY.

Horrible experience..we placed my son here in the BHIF and there was little to no communication about his medical issues, med changes/updates, and in the intake paperwork they state ” Our residents will meet with a psychiatric provider weekly, who will provide you updates via email”. Not once did I receive any update. It’s impossible to get ahold of ANYONE via phone as it just rings and rings, day after day. They only allow your child to call out 2x per week. Not once did I receive any update. It’s impossible to get ahold of ANYONE via phone as it just rings and rings, day after day. They only allow your child to call out 2x per week. My son stated they made him eat alone for 24 hours and only cold food during that time (sandwiches) because another child gave him a sausage in the lunchroom…but they never documented this in his record. No cameras throughout the facility unlike other facilities for children which makes it highly unsafe. They refused to transport him to his normal doctor for his yearly well check and vaccination, and I was told they do not accommodate regular, preventative medical treatment for the kids such as dental cleanings, eye appointments, etc…and some kids have been there for over a year!! Do not send your child here!!

10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! All the reviews are true. I should have done my research before sending my kid here. My daughter got no help, they barely let her use the phones to make her daily calls. I cannot tell you enough to not allow your child to go here, they do not supervise the kids. My child witness multiple sexual acts happen between the 12-17 year olds!! Horrible. My daughter was placed here due to her mental health & came out the same as she went in. The “doctor” is very smiley and cree...

She was told stories by other kids in there about how he r@p3$ children. Disgusting! Please read and listen to the reviews. This isn’t a place you should send your child for “help” the only good thing is this place is the nurse Fatima, she was great. Everyone else is unhappy and doesn’t care about the kids there or their well-being and mental health. Please send your child somewhere where they will actually get the help that they need. This is not it!

When I went here in 2020 I was 14, I was in a psychosis and everything was confusing as it already was with my mental state. Girls would fight each other, girls would attack those more helpless than them all because they WANTED to be sedated. So there would be fights going on and then a-bunch of girls would get triggered and start to cry and freak out, me being one of them. This hospital needs to do a better job at separating those who are violent and those who are not, and they did separate ...

So there would be fights going on and then a-bunch of girls would get triggered and start to cry and freak out, me being one of them. This hospital needs to do a better job at separating those who are violent and those who are not, and they did separate me for my final days, but more time was spent in the other unit with the girls that fight. The roommate I had popped my bed as in 2020 i’m not sure if it’s the same, but their mattresses were horrible and I told the staff and they said that “yea sometimes they get old” they didn’t even care that my mattress was popped and I had to sleep on a hard surface basically.

My grandson was placed here for help. Instead came home with bruises on chest and ribs from being forced to fight because he was the new youngest kid. Not ok. This place needs to be shut down. With all the horror stories in reviews why aren’t they under investigation. Do NOT send a child, any age here for treatment or help. Degrading, intimidation and lack of support, supervision and control. Shame on them!!!

Do not send your child here. I was in the residential unit when I was 15 for a month. I was threatened, assaulted, and received no help. The other children/teens fight every day. Most of the adolescents are sent here from juvy and have SEVERE behavioral issues. I am begging anyone who is considering this place for their child to please pick somewhere else. I came out of this place worse and am still traumatized.
