I had an awful experience at McCallum place. If you want yourself, your child, or loved one to leave a treatment center with more problems than they started with, then this is the perfect place to send them/yourself to. My eating disorder has worsened significantly since I was booted early from the program. The staff were very condescending and callous at times. Communication between me and my team was extremely poor. Communication between my parents and my team was also very poor as well. A...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. do not send your kids here. this is the worst residential i have ever been to. they tubed after one refusal for absolutely no reason. i only used the tube twice and they still wouldn’t take it out for another week. i witnessed girls have panic attack while staff would sit there and ignore them. meals were silent, staff left us alone most of the time, it was not a recovery focused environment at all because we were alone and we had our phone for like 7 hours a day. there ...

LGBTQ+ friendly staff, a lot of them were nice in general during my time here. But a bit of enlightenment on my lower rating. However, there are often inconsistent or hidden rules between different staff members..? There are a lot of unspoken rules you can get in trouble for breaking, even though you often don't learn about them until that point.. there should be a way these are explained to patients beforehand, as it can provide them with additional anxiety about the situation which is not...

I generally do not believe in giving opinions on treatment centers, as different centers work for different people; However, seeking treatment at McCallum Place will do nothing more than add trauma and fuel your disorder. Between incompetent, under-trained staff who behave as though they believe healing happens when you instill fear, shame, guilt, and physical threats, and the outright neglect of the paying clients—McCallum will leave you traumatized, broke, and fuel your sickness. They marke...

I was treated here in 2016 and reading current reviews breaks my heart as it clearly hasn’t changed in the slightest. I was put on Zyprexa (an anti-psychotic) soley for the hunger inducing side effect just like everyone else and I was also on an absurd amount of Zoloft. I left this place worse than when I came except for the fact I was weight restored. All they do here is drug you up and force feed you. I had to go to another treatment facility a year after leaving mccallum due to a horrible ...

McCallum Place has been life changing for me. It is by far the greatest place I've ever worked and full of so many wonderful, caring people. There's a lot of great improvements happening and even more coming. I'm happy to be part of it!!!

my experience here was horrible. first off- there is one bathroom with stalls and showers. I’m not complaining about this, i’m complaining that the grown men councilors sit in the bathroom while you use it and try to watch you shower. next, the nurses are really uneducated. they don’t know how to take vitals. I had a bad seizure and when I woke up, the nurses told me to get up and go to breakfast even though I couldn’t get up. they didn’t even check if I was okay. you have your phone for 7 ho...

This place was the worst experience for my mental health treatment and made me worse. I went in and was very suicidal and begged to be sent to a psychiatric ward in a hospital bc I felt unsafe. Instead, they kept me on 24/7 surveillance there, and then sent me home to do PHP when they knew I had a bad home life that contributed to my ED. They then released me when COVID hit in March 2020, despite my begging to stay because I was not recovered enough and felt very much still sick. Then when I ...
