My daughter was placed here for about 2 weeks. She relayed to me that the first room she was put in had a lot of bugs and roaches in it. They did move her to another room. Upon admission, you as the parent are told about group meetings and how you will be included. I was never included. When I called to inquire about my daughter, the desk person, who is not a nurse would proceed to interfere with what you were requesting. When I called to inquire about my daughter, the desk person, who is not a nurse would proceed to interfere with what you were requesting. If you asked to have a Dr, nurse or higher up to call you, well that never happens. I did finally get the owners phone number and this did get a little bit of people to do better. The staff would tell my daughter unprofessional things. They didn't respect her religious beliefs. I had to intervene many times on this issue. They would tell her if you don't participate in this activity, then you will have to stay longer. They would tell her if your Mom takes you out before the Doctor discharges you, she will have to pay thousands of dollars of the bill cause the insurance won't pay. This and other stupid things. Why tell a child that is already suffering from mental illness things like this? This facility is not one that I would ever recommend. I am a retired nurse who has worked as a psychiatrist nurse too. Shameful.

I will keep posting this. Hope your license gets taken away. This place doesn't help people. All the horror stories are right. This place is horrible. They are homophobic. They talk down to patients and curse constantly in an antagonizing way. They use physical force as a second resort when emotional ab...

They are homophobic. They talk down to patients and curse constantly in an antagonizing way. They use physical force as a second resort when emotional abuse doesn't work. Sickness runs rampant because they don't care about their patients. They have patients basically do nothing all day besides sit in a room like isolation which only makes people worse. These patients are barely getting sleep because they keep the doors open and such and wake them up every other hour. They shine flash lights directly in patients eyes to "check" on them while they sleep. They don't check room numbers and wake other patients up instead. They are lazy and a sad excuse for a mental help facility. This place needs for staff to be fired and restaffed a new. The phycologists are fine the doctors and nurses deserve to be fired. They were probably cast out of hospitals and came here as a last resort because the public doesn't see this place. This place is HORRIBLE. DON'T SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!

I was sent there by force by my grandmother on 2/2/15. it seemed okay at first until you meet some of the people who work on the night shift. The morning shift was the best part since the workers care about their patients and loved their jobs.
On the night shift, that’s when Hell starts and the people who work on that shift only care about themselves and getting paid.

I Pray no one have to experience the same hell I experienced on the night shift.

I would like to thank Laurel Oaks for everything that you and your staff done for my child. My child has fell in love with everyone ..on the way home all he talked about how nice everyone was too him..and how good that the food was . I definitely can see a difference in him already and I would recommend this place to any child that's in need of help . Also don't believe all those negative reviews that you may have read on here. I was in Laurel Oaks 2 or 3 times as a teen for attempted suicide & self harm. I’ve been reflecting back on my life during that time period lately and Laurel Oaks weighs heavy on my mind as it was a big part of my trauma. I was forced to be in Laurel Oaks. Like I said above, it was for attempted suicide & self harm. I was feeling that way because of the extremely abusive & neglectful home I was in and I felt that was my only way out at the time. I spoke about this to a therapist at Laurel Oaks the first time I was sent there. They are mandated reporters but did nothing. Told nobody. I was crying for help and instead, was sent back to the abusive home after being released from Laurel Oaks.
I had a few issues with being physically assaulted by a couple other patients during my first stay at Laurel Oaks. Nothing was ever done to those two girls who had attacked me though. They were the girls who were favored by the main staff so they pretty much got away with anything. I would get told to just get over it and let it go.
I remember staff would grab some of the girls in a rough manner to “get them under control”. They’d use what everyone called “booty juice” even when it was far from necessary. They treat you like criminals instead of human beings.
I remember the food being really good. Getting three good meals a day was something I looked forward to as I wasn’t allowed to eat more than a single item a day in the home I lived in, if I was lucky. I remember the cafeteria man being really nice. He was always nice to everyone. And I remember this one nurse who was always really kind. She usually was working late at night into the early mornings and I loved helping her out. She’s let me walk around and talk to her while she’d sweep the halls and she’d always grab me graham crackers, even in the middle of the night. She was always really nice to me unlike the majority of the other staff members. She actually listened to me and it felt like she understood.
I’d leave Laurel Oaks no better than I was when I went in though. They don’t truly help. They’re more focused on getting paid than helping the patients. Besides the man who worked in the cafeteria and that one nurse, nobody else seemed to care.
I remember seeing little kids there too. No older than 4 or 5 and that always baffled me. Wondering why someone would feel the need to send someone so young to a place so awful and trauma inducing. I remember a little girl being there. She was so sweet and would always sit next to me during the morning round ups when we’d all be doing hygiene before breakfast & meds. I’m an adult now with children of my own and just the thought of one of my children in that place makes me sick.
They don’t truly care about you or your mental health. There are very, very few staff members there who actually cared. It made me want to work there as an adult. Be a staff member who actually cared about the patients. Laurel oaks needs staff that care, not staff that are only there to get their daily dose of control over other children and get paid.
I know my review is all over the place so I’m going to sum it up here.
If you truly care for your child, don’t send them here. It won’t help. 90% of the staff don’t care. Your child will be treated like a criminal and they’ll come out of Laurel Oaks worse than when they went in. The only difference is they’ll know how to hide it better because that’s the only way to get out. You “do your time” and you get to go home.
The only decent thing about Laurel Oaks was the food.
As a mother, I can’t imagine sending my children to a place so awful. There are ways to help your child. I promise, Laurel Oaks is a place you want to run AWAY from.

Absolutely horrible place. My Niece was sent here as a teen for supposed "anger issues ". She came out much worse than when she went in. It has taken YEARS worth of extra therapy BECAUSE of this place. They take zero accountability for the harm they cause to the children in their care. And now, that my niece is attempting to go into the military, this place suddenly can't find her records in a timely manner. 3 months we've been waiting. Last time they said they would just call her when the...

And now, that my niece is attempting to go into the military, this place suddenly can't find her records in a timely manner. 3 months we've been waiting. Last time they said they would just call her when they found them. So I guess Auntie is about to hire an attorney for her, to at least see what her rights are. If she has legal ground to stand on, I will be footing the bill. If you've ever been to this place, I suggest a lawyer and a lawsuit
