I read some negative reviews about Kingwood but I also know they deal with some of the most difficult patients out there so I knew they could handle my daughter who has severe mental struggles that sometimes leads aggressive behaviors.
They were so patient with her during outbursts and kept me informed throughout the entire stay. They were honest with me about the outlook and treatments available to her. Once she was released to outpatient that team continued to be supportive and helpful.

Some of the cases they deal with are so severe that even us parents don’t know his to cope so I’m thankful for them caring for my daughter when I couldn’t help her.

Kingwood Pines was absolutely the best resource of support my daughter and I have received in over 1 year of my daughters mental health journey. Even though she was visiting her dad in Texas when admitted and we don't live there mental health issues don't go away and they were very heartfelt and helpful and we learned so much about my daughters needs and now we have a solid plan in place and finally I feel we are on the road to recovery. Thank you to all the staff and angels at this facility....

You have answered my prayers and have given our family hope and now I feel so much more prepared to beat this mental health crisis our youth is facing post pandemic. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! God speed!

Suicide is illegal, therefore if someone tells you their plans to commit suicide or attempts suicide they are held against their will to prevent said suicide and to mitigate liability. Mental hospitals are where they put the sick they don't know how to help. The people working at these places aside from doctors are uneducated and poorly paid. Mental hospitals are where they put the sick they don't know how to help. The people working at these places aside from doctors are uneducated and poorly paid. There's big money to be made so prepared to be held by them as long as possible if you have insurance. If you have a child be prepared for them to get CPS involved if you don't follow through with their requests, however don't fall for their retaliation tactics if you've done nothing wrong. Studies show most patients leave in a worse state than when they arrived. These places should literally be a last option as mental health hospitalization services in America are very poor.

Jenisha specifically is my hero and inspired me to not only get better but reignited my passion for the field as well as I am now planning to go back to school now that my mental state is stable.my life has completely changed thanks to kingwood pines! There are still hard days but when they come I can think back to my times here and think of what the staff would say and coping had been much easier with their lead!

I would not recommend Kingwood Pines to anyone! Staff treats patients as less than human and I was told by several nurses while working here to “Just ignore the patients. It’s what I do” When being asked by patients for basic human needs (like using the bathroom or asking for food/water!) I noticed a lot of staff members will roll their eyes and/or complain directly in front of the patient! There are a couple exceptions to this, (The children and adolescent units are...

There are a couple exceptions to this, (The children and adolescent units are in amazing hands!) but seeing the disrespect that the majority of staff treat their patients with was just absolutely heartbreaking.
Not only this, but when patients would have seizures or pass out, it was very common for staff to claim the patient was faking!! While yes, sometimes a patient will fake or exaggerate their physical symptoms from time to time it is rare!! And nurses would claim patients to be faking their symptoms almost every time a seizure occurred or someone passed out! Very alarming behavior from staff and I am so glad to no longer be in this environment where patients are not being properly cared for.
Very dehumanizing to patients and when I brought it up to supervisors, my worries were ignored.
I would not recommend working here either! While there are a few amazing staff members whom I LOVED working with, a lot of them were miserable to be around. For context, I am a disabled individual and before being hired, I asked if I would be able to take short breaks to take my prescription medication and I asked if I could bring my water bottle on the unit to drink as water is crucial to my ability to be able to function! I was told that yes, I could take medicine breaks, and I rarely got them. I was told yes, I could bring my water bottle on the unit, and I got fired for it! It has been a couple months of me trying to get in touch with somebody to receive the paperwork saying they fired me and why, but I have yet to get any sort of response.
Additionally, about 3-4 months during summer, there are 2 adult units that go without air conditioning every year. I’m not entirely sure if the hospital ever actually took any action to fix this issue, but seeing as it’s an annual problem I kind of doubt it.
If I could rate this hospital 0 stars, I would! Hospital is complacent with its poor service. I love and cherish the few amazing techs, nurses and supervisors that work here, and I pray they never leave because they are certainly needed!
If you or a loved one needs psychiatric care, please take them to West Oaks, Menninger, or Cypress Creek before ever even considering Kingwood Pines

If you are really in need of assistance for your love one. This is not the to take them at all. I brought my 71yr old love one to Kingwood Pines Hospital. As a last result do to them becoming physical and ironic behavior. I shared with the facility there had been a long ongoing mental illness for years. As well as the newest diagnosis was dementia possibly caused by a stroke and other factors. I left my love one there for treatment while explaining my love one has difficulties making decisions. I was told the doctor or the therapist would reach out to us. Days went by myself nor my family members never received a call. We got word from someone my love one reached out to. That our love one would be transferred to a group home. WOW a group how when where? We contacted the facility only to be told that the facility couldn’t release information to us. The therapist (ERICA) are the acting therapist for unit 500. N The therapist never returned calls and refused to speak with any family members. They held our family till the max stay the insurance would allow. Which was 14days after that she was released. The facility sent our loved one that we brought to there facility for treatment to a undisclosed group home. Mind you we had to pretty much convince them to do a admission. After it was shared we were bringing the family member in based on being a threat to themselves and others. As well the family member had dementia. Our family member was transported at night alone in a cab to group home. The staff at the group home turned her away and said they didn’t have any openings. Therefore our family member was turned around and left in the cold and rain outside wondering. We spent countless of hours trying to locate our love one. Kingwood pines failed to protect our loved one after we left our love one in there care. We took our family member there in hopes of help for someone we dearly love. Not to mention they contacted aps knowing the family member had a unstable mental and would fabricate things when upset. They definitely failed our family member. This was hurtful and beyond unacceptable and unprofessional. We are a caring family at least communicate with the family if you observed them doing the assessment for admission with there family. This is so unfortunate that often so many times people take jobs in professions that they could careless about. I choose to share our story in hopes to educate someone else. This place can easily turn into a nightmare. Seek help in other places. Evaluate the facility stay consist and don’t allow them to monitor your communication with your love one. It’s important to know who and what your dealing with at all times. Don’t trust these people just because they are in healthcare.

My son was transported here by the sheriffs department in the evening. The next morning about 11:30 I went ahead and called in as I felt I should have heard from someone at the facility to go over intake, history, ect…I started by choosing the option for admissions but was ultimately transferred to multiple people with no resolve. I left my name and number with someone and was told I’d get a call back. Fast forward to the evening, still no call back! I call again, this time to be transferred ...

I left my name and number with someone and was told I’d get a call back. Fast forward to the evening, still no call back! I call again, this time to be transferred to a unit from the operator. I stay on hold for over 20 minutes after explaining we have not heard from anyone and are gravely concerned considering he is on meds and no one has called to verify, go over things and most importantly, to get consent for treatments! The nurse I spoke with was extremely rude!!! She confirmed that no information was verified. They went off the information my minor child gave them (which was wrong AND manipulated). I want a call ASAP so I know what’s going on with my kid!!!!!

I was admitted into this hospital involuntarily and had the worst experience in life. I had Dr. Noel and the doctors treated me horribly. I think the doctor had a crush on one of the patients and the girl was absolutely insane and would state she was “jealous” if anyone got close to her doctor. She ended up going to the er a few days later. I ended up going to the er myself after passing out and after one of the attendees put smelling salt up to my nose causing me to have a seizure. This sent me to the ER where I finally received real medical help. There at the other hospital they deemed I was sane. I would not recommend this facility to anyone under any circumstances. This place was hell. If I could rate this zero stars I would.
