I had written a review when I was released from admission in March 2023 but retracted it because I haven’t been able to pay off the 3,000 dollar bill I owe yet. However, a year later I am still passionately repulsed by my experience here and want people to not make the mistake of dismissing the reviews as I did. I had written a review when I was released from admission in March 2023 but retracted it because I haven’t been able to pay off the 3,000 dollar bill I owe yet. However, a year later I am still passionately repulsed by my experience here and want people to not make the mistake of dismissing the reviews as I did. I was in a low place and gave it the benefit of the doubt that places like this have bad reviews because they deal with people who are mentally ill. I implore you, that is not the case and can say from experience that every person who left a negative review, is speaking with full mental clarity. I am almost certain this place would have a malpractice lawsuit on their hands if they didn’t have the capacity of gaslighting people because of the misconception. They take no accountability for their negligence and respond to reviews by feeding into this idea. But here’s the empirical evidence of why this place is bad, going from least egregious to most. First and foremost, if religious persecution is a root source of your unhappiness (as it is for many people with sexual identity issues) do not go here. The staff is 90% LDS and extremely judgemental. I find it impossible to believe that they don’t let these religious biases get in the way of their diagnoses, since the church leaders have a whole have a prescribe Jesus first mentality then if you have a faith crisis you have a real issue on your hands. They talked to patients with condescension and disrespect and did not supply me with the materials I needed for the program until the last day. In fact I wasn’t informed of any of that upon admission, just treated like an idiot when I was being quizzed and recorded on my progress in a recovery pamphlet that I didn’t receive. If they had any iota of patience, we could have clarified my confusion, and I could have received the study materials much quicker, but they wrote me off immediately. When I actually had the book their questions made sense but only in retrospect. Mind you this superiority complex is coming from people who frequently failed to properly check your vitals by putting the equipment on wrong even though they did it probably 100 times a day and told me to stand up when I was about to faint from low blood sugar from the malnourishment that came from the terrible food. (I don’t think I need to clarify this because even laymen know you are not supposed to make someone stand when they are about to faint but instead ease them to the ground, I fear for how they might handle someone having a seizure) Most nights I couldn’t sleep because I was supplied with a thin blanket that resembled cooking parchment paper and never given another upon request. You don’t meet with the psychiatrist for more than an hour and if you are admitted on the weekend good luck because if you have an adverse reaction to the drugs you are forced to take you won’t be able to change until they come in Monday (if they do). I overheard nurses talking about how they were using AI to complete their homework, which while not really any of my business kind of leads me to an impression of general incompetence. When I left my skin was clammy and my pupils were huge. I couldn’t eat for days. I’m pretty sure they released me with serotonin sickness. (I have diagnosed borderline personality disorder and admitted myself during an episode) The most therapeutic benefit was the trauma bonding I experienced with the other patients and the workshops were okay. I’m not sure if it’s just this facility or these kinds of facilities in general but this did certainly more harm than good and hopefully in the future one facility will set a breakthrough precedence for the way we approach mental health but at this rate, I doubt it will be this one.

I was in the adolescent unit and it was horrible. As a openly trans and gay guy there were a couple other patients that would tell me horrible things and staff would do nothing but the second i told them to shut up the staff would get mad at me. If you need something it will take forever to get, like i didn't get my extra pillow until the night before my discharge . they changed my zoloft dose without telling me, there were MANY ants in my unit. I have been mentally struggling for a couple years now. And I have been in 4 different psychiatric hospitals. And the BHC was by far my favorite and comfortable place. The staff were all respectful and kind. The facility itself is nice and they keep it tidy. If someone was struggling with suicidal thoughts I would definitely recommend them here.
I also love how they teach DBT skills daily. If you are willing to listen, the groups are fun and helpful. Participate. It is up to you to get better...

Just got out yesterday. I felt like I learned some things while staying here. The only complaint I have is the small beds that they have along with super thin blankets; I had to wear my jacket most of the time to stay warm; otherwise, I felt I had a good experience.

Spent the worst year of my childhood in this facility 99-2000 awful place, mostly awful staff ...used to beg them not to give me that shot of halidol....and they always strap me down and give it to me......was hoping this place had burnt to the ground....sad to see it still exists. Hope it's run differently nowadays.

I’d give zero stars if I could.
First off, when they do an inspection they remove everything off you that you could harm yourself with. I still had a clip left in my hair, and if I was actually suicidal (I wasn’t, I was just being abused) I could’ve harmed myself with that.
One of the nurses there told me I wouldn’t have to worry about paying a dime being there, and a year later I have debt collectors calling me about this place. Im not paying a bill I was told I DIDNT NEED TO.

Third, staff didn’t care. One nurse I asked if I was getting out and she said “don’t bet on it” with attitude and I did end up leaving that day.
I didn’t need to be here. This place has honestly just made me more of an angry person and has traumatized me.

Overall my experience here was decent and i visited a couple of times, it felt like a vacation away from home only because I was able to interact with people other than my family, but some of the staff members mistreat the patients. As a teenage girl who’s experienced a lot of trauma it seemed a certain staff member had an issue with me from the beginning (Deb) and when I would develop friendships with guys she would bring back things that happened to me and said “you should find new friends ...

As a teenage girl who’s experienced a lot of trauma it seemed a certain staff member had an issue with me from the beginning (Deb) and when I would develop friendships with guys she would bring back things that happened to me and said “you should find new friends so what happened before you came here doesn’t happen again”. A teenager being treated in a mental facility for trying to kill themselves shouldn’t be brought to shame about their friendships by a staff member that should be helping them get better. It’s been over 2 years since my last visit and I still can’t get this interaction out of my mind.

I was in the adolescents unit. I felt like there wasn't much caution on triggers. And staff also didn't intervene much when walking in on you crying. I feel like rules should be updated about staff touching patients. Especially since that is a pretty common trigger. The only good things I got we're coping skills and meds(after prying from my guardian.) Things were also made up about me from the doctor. Wasn't a pleasant stay.
