The hospital needs more funding for programs that engage the patients. However, while I was in the facility there were wonderful people that made me feel better during a difficult time. Luke, Jed, and Sky were awesome and really care about their patients. There was some night staff that were really great as well.

Google needs to have a 0 star option.
Do not, under any circumstances, subject your loved one to the horrors of Cross Creek Psychiatric Hospital. I echo the sentiments of every negative review out there – they're all painfully accurate. If Integral Health refers you here, demand another option, and seek a referral elsewhere in Austin, although most of the psych hospitals around town aren't much better.

Admission is a nightmare from the get-go. Imagine being herded into a freezing room that reeks to high heaven – and I mean it, the stench was revolting. We endured a torturous five hours in that frigid, putrid chamber. And the cherry on top? Forms photocopied so many times they were barely legible. Oh, and visiting hours? A meager one-hour slot on one weekday morning.
As for phone communication, they provide you with a code to connect with your loved one during their stay. However, that promise is a sham. No one picks up the phone, ever. Don't even think about trying to speak with a nurse for an update; it's not happening. We spent hours trying to get through. And on weekends, there's no receptionist to route your calls, leaving you stranded even if someone answers.
And if, by some miracle, your loved one manages to call you, don't expect much. They'll have, at most, five minutes on the phone, if not less, due to the line of other patients waiting to use it.
Cross Creek isn't about healing; it's a profit machine. Patients get all-day screen time and very minimal therapy time. And professionalism? Non-existent. Save for one compassionate soul during intake, the staff lacks basic decency. When my son faced unwanted attention and comments from another patient, he let them know and they turned a blind eye.
Let's talk about accommodations. Beds? It was a cot with thin foam and cracked vinyl "pillows". My son bundled up in layers to combat the bone-chilling cold, while outdoor time amounted to aimless wandering or sitting around.
When our son expressed feeling unsafe, we rushed to the hospital to speak with someone, since they do not answer their phone. However, when we requested to transfer him to another facility, we were told that was not possible. Expect your loved one to languish here the maximum amount of time they can hold them there. $$$$$
I anticipate their social media person will respond with the usual PR spiel, claiming to be troubled or concerned about what I'm sharing in my review. It's all a facade. They do not care one iota; they've already got their money.
Spare your loved ones the agony; steer clear of this disgraceful excuse for a psychiatric hospital. It's every bit as appalling as countless others have attested.

I gave it 5 stars . Because their isn't a place like this where I live. I'm sure the staff cares. They need more training. But they really do want people to participate in group therapy and want you to be on the road to success.

This review for Cross Creek is for the Adolescent ward. TL/DR: Stay away from here, it is a horrible experience.
[UPDATE: Don't be fooled by the social media manager saying they're "troubled" by this review. The same points about their problems with zero transparency, low communication, horrible financial controls, and poor medical planning and outcomes are in dozens of reviews going back over two years. My child was sent to Cross Creek from Dell Children's. Though we had a referral, admission took 4 hours. Staff were not antagonistic but left us waiting, sometimes for over an hour, in a locked room without an understand as to what was going on. There was no communication about the process or how long it would take. That is typical for Cross Creek.
Cross Creek is run by a corporation out of TN on the cheap. So they are chronically understaffed and the staff that they do have are low paid. They try to get by on the least expensive staff that they can, so PA instead of an MD, Med Tech instead of a nurse, etc.
My child was aggressive, not suicidal, but he was put on a ward that was >90% suicidal. After admission we heard almost NOTHING from Cross Creek (except apologies and excuses) about their condition, prognosis, medical plan, etc. even though we called multiple times per day. No one with knowledge of our child's condition would answer the phone, no one would call us back. They really are for storage and safe keeping of kids instead of planning and improvement.
We finally heard from a PA on Day 5, and that was to say that our child was getting discharged the next day!
After discharge they said they filed with our insurance company but that was a lie, they had not. They could not produce an actual bill that we could use for insurance filing. They sent us spreadsheets and pressured us to pay quickly for a 25% discount, but zero understanding about how that would impact our insurance filing. To this date (>90 days later) I still have not received anything that could be called a bill.
EVERYTHING is on paper, NOTHING is electronic, and they won't give you copies of anything. NO ONE in administration answers their phones or emails. I suspect they know why you are calling and would rather have their underlings lie to you instead of doing it themselves.
Gave them 2 stars (instead of 1) because the line workers, though overworked and underpaid, are usually kind and have a good (not bad) attitude. But they are not given the tools or organizational structure to be effective or impactful.
But because of zero transparency, low communication, horrible financial controls, poor medical planning and outcomes, and lots of crazy paper records I recommend you stay far away and go somewhere else.

My outpatient therapist suggested I report this place, and I plan on it. The so called “nurse” named Doris gave me the wrong medication twice and I would have taken it if I didn’t know what my normal pills look like. The people who work here are trash. Unprofessional, incompetent, and cruel. The worst part is, a man (another patient) was consistently harassing me so I told the social worker. He made the staff aware, and they did not fulfill their promise to intervene. This place traumatized me.

Don’t send your child here!!! During the 6 days my child was there I never got 1 phone call from the doctor or the actual social worker that worked with him. The other SW could only read the diagnosis that was written in his chart and what meds he had taken !! Everything else was not read because she “couldn’t read her handwriting”. I stopped giving it after day 4 when my constant pleas for a phone call from the provider was not granted!!! On day 5 I was told that the idiot doctor wanted to keep my child longer than he originally planned. I said “ABSOLUTELY NOT !!” If the doctor couldn’t give me the simple courtesy's of a phone call and update me on his treatment plan then my child HAS to come home!!! In my opinion the insurance money was all they wanted because they sure didn’t help my child or partner with me on his care.

My son was recommended that he admit himself after an accident. It was about 11pm and we had two choices of in San Antonio and one in Austin. We choose Austin because it would be easier to assist him and visit him. We got there and they were very welcoming until they put us in a room with forms and let us sit there for 4 hours for intake. Which was just ridiculous. No explanation of what was going on until about 4am. We were given a sticky note with numbers to call and visiting hours and it was not even accurate. The first day I called my son to check on him and was told I needed to be transferred well I got the wrong wing and then was hung up on. This happened several times over about 30 minutes. So after he finally called we decided for him to call me as that was easier than attempting to call him.
The second day he told me he needed some clothes, and wanted to me able to dress as that is his coping mechanism considering he is on the spectrum. Well I took him 2 of clothes, fmla paperwork and crayons because I didn’t think they would allow colored pencils and a notebook. Well because he was heavily medicated he thought he got everything but he got a notebook and some shirts/socks. Never got his second bag with toiletries, shorts or crayons. I tried calling but got nowhere. We didn’t get his items back until the week after he was discharged.
When speaking with him he said his therapist saw him for about 5 minutes a day. They were pretty much allowed to do whatever. They watched Netflix and he said most movies/shows that were violent. Which makes no sense! Games, Netflix and 5 minutes of therapy does not help. All I heard was he felt like he was in jail and was getting worse not getting help.
When he finally got out they swore up and down he was given a discharge papers. No papers no prescriptions and getting help forget it. They made sure to get money for his deductible though before he left. To this day we never got discharged into, or diagnosis. I had to call several times after experiencing a relapse to get a prescription called in. That took 24 hours.
The HR department is a joke, why would they help with forms? And why are they so rude? The hospital wants money but yet still couldn’t get fmla paperwork even though it was taken when he was in the hospital. We have called and were told to speak to Brandon Willis. My son signed a release information to myself at the time he admitted himself and again after speaking with HR only by email. Never heard back from him after 2 weeks. Fmla and short term disability was only filed out after showing up.
While he was admitted he asked to leave and I called to have him moved and even though he’s an adult he was ignored and of course my call was never returned.
Keep your loved one away. This is not the place for them. In all honesty I thought the reviews were bad because patients were upset to be there but in all honesty it was worse than the reviews. I see them responding but I’m sure they don’t respond to the emails either.

I was admitted 02/2023
The staff was nice. Sky specifically was amazing. Facility wasn’t too bad just seemed like they didn’t have a lot of funds. My biggest complaint is they take your personal items such as my purse (this is normal) but when discharging I didn’t look through my purse thoroughly (wanted out of there) signed the waiver (my mistake for not checking well). Get home and realized that my ADHD medication was no longer in my purse and my medication organizer was also gone. I could...

I could understand if they were not my medication or like OTC meds but these were prescription medications. Medications that cannot be refilled early. So… that was super irritating. They also did not give me my meds on time regularly and had to remind staff. They did not give me my ADHD meds whille in their care. And the admission time was sooooo long. Took four hours even though “they were waiting for me” (my psychiatrist had called ahead) Lastly, the water machine was broken so we had to depend on the staff to bring water back to us.
