I don't know if I already left a review or not.
Here is my experience in 2013 or so.
The food was excellent, and actually filling. Mind you I was around maybe 285lbs upon arrival.
Even while eating good I still lost weight that's because we were allowed to play basketball, and other activities. Even while eating good I still lost weight that's because we were allowed to play basketball, and other activities. Which I was hospitalized as an adolescent in numerous places, but Coastal Harbor had way more activities. The floors were separated based on levels of cognitive functioning, and age to my understanding. The staff treated me like a person that had value. They wouldn't bow down, and held me accountable, however in no way shape or form did they ever disrespect me. Honorable mentions are Mrs. Levaiter, my therapist Mrs. Jenn, Mr. Larry, Nurse Brad, Nurse Tori, and specifically Mrs. Anna, as when I got put on BP " Back Pocket for SI she talked to me how I needed although I didn't know I needed it lol. The kitchen staff knew dang good and well how to throw down in a kitchen!!
Overall I'm absolutely shocked anyone has had a bad experience. Even with the constant hold patients I always observed the staff involved reasoning with the patient as well as they could before a hold had to happen.
Mr. Cash I believe needs a supervision position if he's still around. He absolutely would say, and do what needed to be, and yes even stood up for us. If I could tell every patient there 1 thing it would be this. Look at how you felt like 3/15 of a person elsewhere, this is a huge improvement!!
The staff have it bad too!! Not me personally, but they knew our floor was a wild bunch!!!
I mean they are dealing with some parents rebellious teenagers lol!. I was one of them, however I never had to be restrained. I could tell most of the staff were more than likely parents themselves. If memory serves correct I believe I was guaranteed 1 year of treatment. I was there 5 1/2 months!! I hold that group employed then in the highest respect!!! The staff won't throw the gavel at you, as long as you talk to them!! I watched a staff be assaulted, and he just kept taking it until help came. He said that he didn't want the floor erupting with everyone else so he just took it. I can't remember his name though. I never saw too bad of a hold honestly. However they would go to any length to ensure equal safety. When we had problems on the floor we had warnings, if we didn't listen Mrs. Levaiter said it's time to shut it down. 5 am, 3pm, or 8pm. She wasn't going to tolerate bullying, fighting, or any crap!!
I've recommended here to a family member for his granddaughter once.
I'll keep recommending it!!!
I went from not trying in school to actually engaging again. I didn't graduate, but even as an adult I experienced more stability, and quality of life then because of my treatment there, and I'm forever grateful. Thank you you guys!!

I am deeply saddened to share my negative experience with Coastal Harbor residential treatment facility. Despite being personally recommended to me as a mother seeking help for my child's illness, her time there was nothing short of a nightmare.

I am deeply saddened to share my negative experience with Coastal Harbor residential treatment facility. Despite being personally recommended to me as a mother seeking help for my child's illness, her time there was nothing short of a nightmare.
First and foremost, the professionalism of the staff was severely lacking. Communication was practically non-existent, leaving me feeling completely uninformed and helpless about my child's well-being. Shockingly, I discovered that the staff had been abusing the children under their care. This is utterly unacceptable and has left me deeply disturbed and outraged.
Even more concerning is the failure of the medical director to address my valid concerns about the abuse occurring within the facility. Instead of taking swift and decisive action, they chose to brush off my worries, demonstrating a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of the children in their care.
Furthermore, the facility has proven to be incredibly negligent with personal belongings. A significant portion of my child's clothes and other items went missing during their stay, and despite numerous attempts to contact the facility via email and phone calls, they have refused to acknowledge or address the issue. This blatant disregard for accountability is appalling.
I firmly believe that Coastal Harbor should be shut down immediately. No child should ever have to endure the trauma and mistreatment that occurred within its walls. It is my sincere hope that my review serves as a warning to other parents seeking help for their children and that justice is served for those who have suffered at the hands of this negligent facility.

I was here when I was 16 going on 17 and I would never ever place my child in the hands of this hospital. The staff were absolutely terrible. Verbally abusive, would use the hygiene products for themselves that were brought in by patient's family. Most of the staff did not care about any of the children. There were also some questionable staff there as well. I came out of this place after being there for two months… worse time of my life. Left with more problems than I came in with. There was...

There was one therapist who made it worth staying there but I don’t remember her name. Very unprofessional place please do not send your child here.

The nurses and staff were very nice to my daughter and treated her very well. But the doctor over medicated her and gave her ADHD meds without her being diagnosed for ADHD. He put a 10 year old on 4 medications and when she vomited, blurred vision, dizziness, almost passed out, ringing in her ears, barely ate, and looked half dead- he didn’t do anything about it! She came home with strep throat also! Thankfully her pediatrician stopped 2 of the medications immediately and said she should’ve n...

She came home with strep throat also! Thankfully her pediatrician stopped 2 of the medications immediately and said she should’ve never been put on 4 medications like that. She said for a child you’re suppose to add one at a time in case there’s an issue. Also the dr never called me to explain the medication, even when I asked a nurse to have him call me. My daughter’s pediatrician was in shock that he never contacted me. The rest of the staff in the acutely unit was very nice. But the dr seems to just want to drug kids up and not care about the side effects. My daughter couldn’t even function when she got home.

overall, I hated it. We had to be sneaky on how to give each other our social media to stay in contact, I got more trauma than help here, and the therapists sucked. We had nothing to do in that small waiting room area. Go to hell, costal. I loved Mrs. Nene tho <3
