I definitely had an experience here at Austin Oaks, they were very supportive but should work on certain staff members with helping the patients more and get rid of their egos. A patience and I had to help a woman off the ground due to her not wanting help from certain staff members. Please be better humans, and I appreciate you all for the help and food. Will be in contact soon

I've been with Austin Oaks for a month and a half, and this facility has been so welcoming, so open, and so willing to work with me. The front desk lady, Angelina, is one of the sweetest and best people to walk in to the facility to see. The therapists are practically bending over backwards to help in any way possible, Annette and Katie are the absolute best! The psychiatrist, Dr. Ha, is so detailed and thorough to make sure you're taken care of. When I first reached out to the facility, they...

I feel so well taken care of here, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a supportive community.

I gave it 5 stars . it should be remodeled. And rebuilt. There isn't a place like this where I live and the staff only want to help the people better their lives any way they can. they truly do care and go out of their way to help you.

I had a highly positive experience with Austin Oaks Hospital, particularly with their Women's Program. The compassionate staff and serene environment create a supportive atmosphere for healing. The personalized care and comprehensive approach to mental health are commendable. I just left Austin Oaks and i honestly loved it compared to when i went in 2020. I loved the therapies ya’ll provide! like dog therapy, art therapy, music therapy, outside time, yoga, and my personal favorite process group. The staff has completely changed and i think it was for the best! Though there are definitely some staff that i think need some teaching on how to talk on teens and how to control their temper and attitude towards us, but other than that mostly everyone was amazing! The therapist Nicole and Camille are amazing and very helpful! The techs Payton, Aden, Stephen, Olivia, Pablo, Rosalyn, and Terry are all amazing and super motivating and caring. The nurses Tommy, Jonsie, Kim, and Janine [ and others i do not know the names of] are all so caring and understanding about everything even when they’re busy with stacks of paperwork! Sometimes the staff could use more help with kids and the units definitely need more then one nurse on the floor. They should definitely consider adding a nap time after lunch, I have been to other facilities that offer it and it definitely helps everyone out, it gives the nurses time to do paperwork without being bothered, the techs time to take a break and eat their lunch, the teens are able to rejuvenate with a nap, some meditate, even journal or read in peace. And Austin oaks does phones usually around 6 but a nap time could also be a good time for phone calls in quiet not having everyone being loud around them. Also Austin Oaks should really do a rewards system with the patients, I’ve also been to other facilities that do that and it really motivates the patients to do better and be able to complete their program successfully, they could do incentives like stickers or markers or a coloring book or better snacks and every day it gets better until the day they discharge for not harming themselves, others, or property. i really think it would motive the patients and give them a reason to keep pushing and to discharge successfully. And they should allow staff to provide food for the patients, I’ve heard staff talk about how they wish they could bring pizza or donuts for the teens and i think it would really mean a lot to them and put them in a good mood, like maybe every Friday or even Sunday they get donuts or pizza or a party box of different chips so everyone gets one. They should also allow families to bring food during visitations, it gives the patients some good food and usually makes them very happy and motivated to see their family. Overall my stay this time around was way better and it really did help me so much!

If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE. I was a patient here in the adolescent ward years ago. I should have sued them. I was seventeen when I came to Austin Oaks and was admitted almost immediately once walking through the doors. I was seeking outpatient treatment due to feeling like my medication wasnt working for me and wanted to take actions to improve my mental health. When having my evaluation I was told I was going to be put into inpatient treatment, which I then declined. My mother also stated she did not feel as though I needed that. They let me sit and think on it for five minutes before coming back and I then told them again I would not be going. They then brought cops in to speak to me and the cop stated "I dont know what you want me to do." Then walked out and signed paperwork to admit me. This traumatized my mother due to the fact we had no clue what was going on and this was not what we came for. Once admitted, I was strip searched and put into a common room that was filthy with other children. While I was there, no therapy was done, the only outside time we had was in a courtyard that was surrounded by walls and no actual room to move around. The food there was served frozen numerous times. They did not give me hygiene products for three days, they did not allow me to change into the clothes my mother dropped off for me (the night i was admitted) for three days. They would wake us up at odd hours of the night to take blood in the dark. They did not allow me to call my parents and they did not allow my parents to call me. Everyday I had a meeting with a doctor there, he would just tell me I was fine and didnt belong there and agreed with me but never let me leave. A week later my parents came for a visit and I told them everything. They threatened to sue them if i was not released. Other kids there were injected with sedatives if acting out. (one was running up and down the hall giggling and got sedated for it.) Another kid openly tried to cut herself but the staff rolled her eyes at her instead of stopping her. I was labeled as schizophrenic despite never experiencing anything close to that. I am now 22 and working in a mental health office. Since my treatment there, I have been to others and I can say confidently that Austin Oaks needs to be shut down with their neglect and abuse to patients there. They do not care about you. They want your money and that is all. DO NOT GO HERE.

Austin oaks really cares about you. My therapist Katie, along with the front desk Angelina make it why is so great. Katie is so caring about each and every one of her patients and Angelina is very warm and sets the tone for the PHP and DBT program. I never expected to recover so quickly, and it was purely because of them. I highly recommend this program and kudos to Katie and Angelina who are such a amazing individuals.
