The staff and quality of medical care at this hospital is shocking. The lab has screwed up my blood draw on two occasions where they ran the wrong test. On one occasion I reported to my appointment only to discover that the appointment line set my appointment for the same day but for the next month by mistake. The fact that these incidents occur at a medical facility could be indicative of the level of care and competence they possess with other services. I’ve been to third world countries with hospitals that provided better care than this. Don’t risk your health at this place, and if the appointment line won’t allow you to see a doctor elsewhere of your choice then demand to speak with patient advocacy. Seriously. Don’t risk coming here.

Overall my first experiences at this hospital have been surprisingly good. I was able to secure and attend my first appointment at this hospital with my primary care team quickly despite obstacles on the phone to get established at this hospital at my new address. I parked at the ER area and took the wrong route to the hospital on my first day, but I was able to navigate the hospital to get to the correct location. I like how I was able to get almost everything done immediately: my appointment, pharmacy refill, medical records release forms, and address the doctors I needed for different ailments in one day. It took me six hours to get all this done at this hospital, since I arrived at my first appointment an hour early. Despite the hours spent here, it was quiet and peaceful - no lines or anxiety. This was the most ideal doctor and hospital visit I ever had. Peaceful, spacious and inviting lobby area, easy to locate appointment, gift shop, & pharmacy location, and a Starbucks on the third floor to enjoy iced coffee. It was easy finding the parking lot of the front of the hospital where the hospital's pharmacy is located. Going to the hospital and my first doctor appointments at a new address are always stressful to me due to numerous past experiences, so I was elated to finally have a good firsthand experience.

The care is healthcare is really declining and the military leads the way in removing the care part.
Let’s start with the PCM’s. Are there good ones here at Belvoir? Yes but they are overbooked and impossible to get in with. So instead you are given an appointment with the first available. Someone you might question why they went into healthcare to begin with. Because caring and helping their patients seems to be the last of their priorities. Instead you are met with a rushed appointment where the PCM only listens to a quarter of your concerns and then sends you on your way. Patients keep doctors employed. There are far better things we could be doing with our days then coming to see you about our health issues but for people like me who grow brain tumors out of their control, I don’t have a choice. It’s really comical that the doors of this hospital say world class healthcare because that would lead one to believe it’s some of the best and it’s absolutely not. We dread when we have to see a doctor even for something minimal like a required sports physical because you leave feeling it was a waste of time going.
On the subject of brain tumors let’s talk about the MRI staff. My second least favorite department in the hospital. The staff is unnecessarily angry. Because I grow brain tumors I have to go see MRI once a year and I leave wanting to cry every time. MRI’s are not a comfortable experience. The machines are loud, the staff wants you to remain robotically still and if you have to get an IV for contrast you might swear a blind person is doing it. Every time I’ve had to get an MRI the staff’s attitude is like every patient is taking up their unnecessary time. It might be easy for them to get angry if you have to shift your body because you are horribly uncomfortable, but the patients aren’t robots. Good luck if you have to get an MRI here because I’m pretty sure they interview looking for the meanest persons to be on staff.
Now the ER… I left a review on the ER already, but again the Doctors are AWFUL! So overrun. Half focused. I get that the ER is for emergencies and a large portion of people going are non emergent cases but what do you expect the patients to do when they try to get an appointment with a PCM and nothing is available for 6 weeks? You only need to be in the Military life for 5 mins to know their ER’s are at minimum a 6 hour wait. You could have a ruptured appendix and they are still making you wait 6 hours in the ER to even get triaged. It’s horrible. 0/10 don’t recommend any military ER.
Good luck with labs if you need them. Plan to wait 2-3 hours to get called for blood work.
What’s the joke with the military? Hurry up and wait right? Well plan to do that at this world class hospital.

I just love this hospital. It’s everything I wish a hospital would be since it has a lot of commitment to the academic side of medicine, but it has so much heart to it. As soon as I walk in I feel very welcome, and the retired veterans working the doors and nurses administering the counters for each department have both the expertise AND the nurturing feels one would expect a nurse to have.

I stopped by a department feeling unwell while volunteering, and because they are so used to processing soldiers who have severe neurological and PTSD symptoms they know how to just take over and be of assistance when someone looks unwell. It’s so refreshing to see this side of medicine after being exposed to so many hospitals where they just want to collect money for doing nothing, medically gaslight, or discriminate. I’m very happy to volunteer and assist this hospital as it provides the right kind of service without those issues.
I’m so shocked to see such a polarized set of reviews. Either people really loved it or they hated it. That goes to show how important synastry really is.

Consistently the worst MTF in the area. Whoever commands this facility should be relieved of command.
The staff and med techs are always rude and the pharmacy wait times are ridiculous. There is zero bedside manner and the civilian employees treat patients poorly because they think they can…proving that “leadership” has enabled this behavior.
It’s not surprising this military medical facility is so poor. After all…what do call the person who graduated last in their medical class? Captain.

The ratings are low for a legit reason!
This has to be the absolute worst medical facility I’ve ever experienced in my life… if you want effective services or even sub-par services, please do NOT go to the FT Belvoir Hospital.

Monday: I took my 3yr old to the ER on a Monday. He was screaming with pain in his ears… we sat in the ER for 5hours waiting to see a physician, only to be informed that there were 2 people in front of us and we would still probably have to wait a couple hours. I refused to sit there another 3hours with my child in pain, surrounded by 24 other sick people. I took him home and treated him there as much as I could until the next day appointment.
Tuesday, I followed up with his PCM. She got us in right away- my baby is still complaining about his ears. She diagnosed him with an ear infection. She wrote the prescription right away. Next, I activated the prescription through the text system and proceeded to the Pharmacy, located in Meadows Pavilion, to ensure follow up that the pharmacy had in fact received the information. I was stopped at the door by a tall, bald, Black male who informed me that I would have to wait for a return message saying the medication was ready for pickup. I showed him the messages in my phone and he assured me that everything was done properly and that the prescription would be filled right away. I told him it was important because my child has been crying, in excruciating pain— he again told me not to worry, but I had to wait.
Wednesday- this is day three (1500hrs)… I call the pharmacy to check on my child’s medication. The representative tells me that they have not input his medication because the system is down… I am furious. I asked her why did they not inform me when my child is in pain and in need of medication. I asked her to please out source with the local pharmacy. She acted very nonchalant as If this situation is not emergent.
An hour later, I call the pharmacy back and they still had not transferred the prescription. I asked the representative why she had not called me to inform me that they had not made the transfer. I walked into the pharmacy and asked them to call the Belvoir pharmacy and still no progress from Belvoir’s end.
After several hours of waiting and no medication, I am here writing a review explaining the reasons why you should never go to Ft Belvoir Hospital. I have literally given up and taking my child to the local Urgent Care!! I absolutely hate this experience and pray it does not happen to anyone else!! Shame on you Fort Belvoir Hospital!!!

Over a two hour wait (on a Wednesday) to get scripts filled. After being told it would be an hour. Watching/listening to folks behind the windows socializing, taking breaks, going to lunch completely oblivious to the 2+ hour wait they are causing.
Their pharmacy reminds me Walmart. Walmart has 24 checkout lanes, but only 4 are open. The Ft Belvior pharmacy has 12 windows, but only 2 of them are open.
This might be the worst pharmacy in the DoD. Which is no small feat. Ridiculous.
