I am fuming and very disappointed at how the staff at the west haven location can so easily have no compassion. My husband and myself have been going here for years, we have a friendly relationship with all staff and they know us well and then there is today when they were absolutely heartless. We travel from North Madison and my husband couldn’t leave work until 12, the traffic was absolutely horrendous and we got to the program a measly 4 minutes after 1:00 and they straight up refused to even look at or acknowledge us, let alone open the doors. Would it really have been so hard for them to just dose us so we don’t have to get sick over 4 minutes?!??! Is this the compassion of healthCARE workers?!? This is just straight up wrong and uncalled for and now we only have two options that as an addict in recovery you don’t want to do either one.

Went to the apt foundation after leaving the root center to continue my maintenance program and couldn’t have been happier with the services from the very beginning. I got there at 11 and they took me right in abs got through the in take process fairly quickly. The nurses were great, the dr was very knowledgeable and also gave me second options as I told her I was looking to get off methadone. I couldn’t of asked for a better first time there and looking forward to meeting my counselor and ho...

Here is where I receive treatment with respect and compassion.

Enough positive things just cannot be uttered about APT- especially the West Haven branch. The staff are simply awesome, their program is fairly administered and they are not sheep. While rules must be followed, they know life happens and they always work WITH me to find an equitable solution. They are professional, personable, compassionate and caring. I go to the North Haven clinic which I love. The staff are great who care and help the ones who need it. It's a great environment as you don't see anyone selling outside the place. The other people are friendly and group is mandatory once a month, you can't just sign and go. I do group when I have time. Usually more then 1x cause I like it and need it.
You can manipulative the system if you choose but most likely you'll get caught and kicked out. They give you room and chances because if any...

You can manipulative the system if you choose but most likely you'll get caught and kicked out. They give you room and chances because if anyone knows better an addict should know best... ITS HARD! Nobody's perfect and people mess up. It don't mean that they don't want help. It means they struggle and need time. One day at a time.
Now I've been to Long Wharf obviously as that's the main place. It's definitely not as good as N. Haven. The staff always seem busy talking rather then medicating. Most seem rude. And alot of times they don't know what's going on. It don't seem very clean either. The doctors upstairs are morons. Especially Ed, he's the worst. Again, you have to wait for them to be done conversating about their dinner date before you get seen.
I've never been to the other clinics but I've heard about Congress. Another drug fly by. Before I was clean, I was told to just head there. Sad!
I've been to Hartford Dispensary in 2 different places. Bristol and Waterbury. Waterbury is so hard to get into.Have to be there by 500am and they only take 1 person a day. If someone comes from the hospital or is pregnant, they come first. Bristol, nobody cares about anybody there. The Dr denied me a month after I got out of detox and had me go through hoops to get in that place. Promised I would be medicated the day she denied me, had me wait for hours to tell me. They have 1 window and I saw the staff was angry and refused medication to everyone there. She list something and until it was found nobody was getting medicated. Honestly, in glad I didn't get in and had gone to the apt foundation where everyone was telling me to go. I didn't want to drive so far away. I'm happy where I am. I'm clean from heroin and pills for 10 months and I'm still working on the other drugs but I do pretty good. I don't even drink anymore. My last slip was months ago. If it weren't for the apt foundation I'd still be using or dead. So Thank-you ALL Staff members and Security at North Haven Apt. Foundation for all you have done for me and keeping a safe, clean environment.

Great place if you want little to no accountability towards your own recovery, the street front is the best spot in all new haven to buy any drug you could possibly imagine (including methadone!!), its the easiest place to get on to, it only takes about 4 hours, the urine's are unsupervised, so people bring in fake urine's and THERMOMETERS!?!?, and they are open until 3pm, a full 2 1/2 hours later than anywhere else im aware of.
Like others suggested, it really is totally what you make of it...

Like others suggested, it really is totally what you make of it. If you struggle with other substances, I suggest you find a different clinic, as I call the entrance, the gauntlet, because there's ALWAYS MULTIPLE people out front trying to sell you drugs. However, if you really want some help, I think it can be the best place to go, because they are so accomidating to you, open from 530am to 3pm, and only requiring 1 group per month, which most of the time, you can just sign a piece of paper saying you were there and not even do a group, they get you in and out quickly by eliminating the need to see the same counselor every time, ANY counselor can see you, and they have 5 medication windows, they medicate more people in an hour than most places in a day!!
If you can show just a little responsibility on your own, this place can be a tremendous help! But they ABSOLUTELY give you plenty enough rope to hang yourself if you so choose. I love the freedom of this place compared to others, but you really have to want to get clean to make THIS PARTICULAR clinic work as a long-term solution for you!! Like any place, there is good and bad points, but ultimately, it comes down to the choices you make.
I choose to utilize the program in a responsible manner, I DO NOT EVER use fake urine's, I stay away from the dealers out front, I get in and out and gone as quickly as I can, and of the 5 clinics I have ever been at, this one by far makes it easiest to maintain a steady job without being constantly late and all that garbage I've dealt with elsewhere. I love the place, but only because I use it in the proper manner. I give 5 stars but its easily open to interpretation, haha.

APT saved my life when I was in a horrible place.
Been dope free for 10 years and coke free for 8
Was up as high as 140 mgs, now down to 15, and dropping 3 more next treatment plan
Everyone there is first class. They honestly do care about you.
That being said, during this years baseball playoffs, I blew up the breathalyzer 4 times...
I get out of work late and come in early, so I had no time to metabolize the alcohol...
I understand the rules, but was told that my low dose and mixing alcohol ...

That being said, during this years baseball playoffs, I blew up the breathalyzer 4 times...
I get out of work late and come in early, so I had no time to metabolize the alcohol...
I understand the rules, but was told that my low dose and mixing alcohol does not present a health threat, yet they stripped me of my 13 bottles and I am forced to go everyday
Only place in the world where you are looked at like a loser for having a few drinks
But when I was on 120 mgs and still shooting 3 bundles a day, they boosted my dose
Blow numbers on the breathalyzer and they give you half a dose
I do not understand this
It seems the reason I won’t get my bottles back is because I won’t give into AA thinking, I am only powerless to drugs that make you sick if you don’t have them
This drives them nuts, I’m not in recovery, I just don’t do drugs anymore
And I swear by this, I do not like meetings and everything they preach.
It may work wonders for a lot of people, but not me.
All that being said, I can’t wait till my treatment plan to tell my story
But overall, like I said, they saved my life
